Tex Mechanica Theory.(Work in Progress)

With the new exotic, The Chaperone, being revealed, I put together this theory on Tex Mechanica. The theory goes something like this: Tex Mechanica was a foundry of a few men. Founded early in the dark age, their weapons were custom-made for defense. They drew from a heavy western influence, and many sought after them. The Last Word was a project commissioned for Guardian Jaren award. It was known for its unique make and distinct sound. No other gun was like it. When Jaren Entered Palamon, the weapon was unheard of. It was special. Another weapon we know of, the chaperone, was crafted to defend the Holiday family. It was their "bodyguard", their Chaperone. It was crafted to hit hard, handle well, and defend the family. The men who made these weapons were experts of their craft, building beautiful weapons that handled exquisitely. They were built to impress, often allowing the wielder to twirl it in their hand as they drew the weapon. Their reputation became that they made the best weapons, but it faded. Their weapons were soon replaced by the new foundries: Omolon, Häkke, Suros. These new foundries were more efficient, mass producing their weapons for widespread use. Eventually, a new head to Tex Mechanica decided to expand the foundry. He hastily built new weapons, and these weapons were of a much lower quality. He wasn't selling as well as he wanted, so he tried to put in a bribe. He attempted to get the crucible fixed to make his new guns look good. He was denied. This was likely frowned upon by the rest of the leaders of Tex. Most of my information comes from the grimoire for the Last Word and the flavor text of the Chaperone, as well as city age 2. I also based some of it on conjecture, based off of the fact that we only see the three foundries so far in the Taken King. I hope you enjoyed the read! This is my first theory, and am open to new input and evidence.

  • I think Tex Machina is a weapon foundry that only did special requested forges. They are like ferrari, hand crafted, and one of a kind, exotic. Amanda Holliday must have been part of a wealthy family, or had a direct relation to Tex Machina. Even better, maybe she's the daughter of Jaren Ward - far fetched but just a cool concept.

It seems Tex Mechanica was once a foundry as large as Suros, Omolon or Hakke, judging by the fact they have two Exotics to their name. They seem to be going through a rough-patch at the moment though, they can't compete with the bigger groups and have been forced to try and bribe Shaxx for popularity again. That one-sided deal they were black-mailed into can't be helping much either. (Notice how all Tex Mechanica gear seems to be past-tense? Omolon, Daito and Suros are still making Exotics)

    • id like to point out that many boxes with tex mechanica labels can be spotted around the tower as well as ones for daito, crux/lomar, and the three being introduced in ttk

      • Good stuff. Probably my favorite guns aesthetically. The lore behind the Last Word is really interesting too.

      • Also I want to point out that guardians didn't exist in the golden age and nor did the weapon foundries we know today. Tex Mechanica however was likely founded in the early Dark Age.

Nice work I would take a look at a specific grimoire card called Ghost fragment:A city age two. since it shows the proggresion of the gun foundry becoming a one for cash.
