I really want to one day work for bungie or 343 industries, (depending on how the next halo pans out) and I was wondering how to do so. I'm in the 11th grade and I love to draw. I mean, I can't complete a single assignment in school without drawing on it! I'm hooked on digital drawing, (on iPad) and I really want to make a career out of this. I love in Florida (hate it, born in New York) and I must live in Seattle. ( to work in either company) I also must get a collage degree of some sort. The problem is, I don't know what I want to do! I want to model characters and textures and also work on concept art and world design. I'm so confused, and my career isn't even started yet! Where do I begin? What collage do I attend? Where do I rent an apartment? I'm so confused. Any help or tips would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks,
Gary w.

one more thing bungie requires 2 years of work in the field to even apply for a post so really think about what you want from it because texturing, character, world, and texturing are all different positions

Watch this video, he gives a really great narration describing how you get into the industry.

first of all you will need to look at local art colleges in your area one great but expensive school in Florida is full sail university, or if you want to go on a bit of a hike you could go to Atlanta Georgia and look into the Art Institute (ps. i will be attending this school, and we're in the same grade). then once you find what school you want to attend ask about assisted payments scholarships and anything that can help you pay for it and I cannot stress this enough DO NOT TAKE OUT LOANS it will ruin your credit and on the off chance you don't land a job in the industry you will never pay them off. Learn programming any skill you can have in this area is well appreciated in the business and if you land a part time job in college programmers make about 30-40 dollars an hour so you'll have plenty of money for tuition (minimum wage wont cut it). Plan to work your ass off this may seem a bit of a hard one because our generation is seen as the laziest. Be careful about planning this move and learn how to budget you need to be able to support yourself before I recommend trying to go to Seattle that's a big hike from our region friend and your expectations may not be met. Plan for failure but work to improve, always think your work isn't good enough, don't take this one too seriously its just my personal "technique" of doing things it makes you want to perfect absolutely anything with your work. Be motivated if you don't believe in yourself why should the school your going to? Practice everyday! work your hardest to hone your skills work in 3d (sign up at autodesk.com for a student account and download 3ds max (if you dont have alot of ram.... get some 3d artwork is very ram intensive)) study and learn everything about your field be a jack-of-all-trades just don't be arrogant. And lastly... welcome to the industry friend I hope you make it on your journey Best of Luck, Nameless: 3d artist over at Forever Untitled Studios (had to throw some advertisement in there ;D)
