I've been working on this piece for a while, still have to get the graphics right but eventually I will finish the side of the spaceship. In case you haven't noticed, I combined two of my favorite pieces of concept art and re-created them. Please tell me what you think I could do to improve this.

I'm a fan of bold, close up, less detail oriented work, well, that's my artstyle anyway, seems you're going for something much different, I could tell you how I would do it, but it's YOURS. You do it how you want. I'd say just look over the elements and principles of art, try to compose your pieces with a select few of those in mind.

I love the atmospheric distortion below Traveler.

Edited by xgeua: 5/3/2013 5:38:13 AMI really like the idea behind this. It looks great so far. Just a few things though: -The earth's edge should be higher about two thirds up the page. -I reckon the glass canopy outline should be just lower than the edge of the earth and less curved. -I think the traveler would look better in the middle. -Straighten and refine some of the edges. They look a bit soft. -Give the earth a bit more blue. Hope this helps.

It's looking pretty cool so far, I look forward to seeing ti finished. As for critique, I think the lights in the control panel are a bit much and I think the composition is a little awkward. Try thinking about the rule of thirds; it's not the only factor in composition (particularly where you have a lot of lights and contrast) but I think it might help playing with the position of things.

This is a cool idea. Can't wait to see it cleaned up with details and highlighting! Do you have an estimate on time spent so far?

Well now that you have included your image, The idea that you have is very good. I'm a bit confused as to what the line cutting across your piece is. If it's supposed to be the glass of the space ship it does not connect to the actual ship. I think the idea you have is that the camera is looking from inside the cockpit outside into space? If this is the case then the glass should be covering the whole frame and you should attempt to communicate some kind of reflection. See image above. I like the composition a lot! If you develop it I think it will look really good!

Looks great! If this is just a work in progress, then I can't wait to see the final product.
