Ok I need some advice a turbo kit for my celica just popped up for sale. It included everything like injectors coolant lines, oil lines, etc. it runs about 5-7 psi and adds about 45 hp to the wheels. I of course would find a lower mileage engine and do some maintenance stuff before I install the kit. It would probably put me at around 190hp at the crank. Now for similar money I could put in a JDM NA 2.0 with 197hp and a LSD transmission(if I can find one that comes with the engine). This is a more modern engine with variable valve timing and coil on plug ignition. The only issue with this engine is its a Japanese engine and some of the parts aren't available in the states. I've made a similar thread to this but that dealt with me custom making my own turbo bits and not a bolt on kit. Anyway what are your opinions on this?
Edit:I love my celica to death an I'm never selling it so no more "sell the car" comments please. Seriously I'm not looking to blow the doors off of anything or brag about dyno figures. I just want a decently powered well balanced car.
Edit:I've already decided to go the NA route and drop in the 197 hp 2.0 litre engine.

Celica should be turboed. Rice burners love that shizzle. I had a 2.0 litre fastback gt with quad cams... sounds good but my friend stuck a garrett on his and it made an extra 150 bhp.
-
But you drive a Celica...
-
Buy an America v8. Hit gas. You win over rice burners
-
Bottom line It would be a worthless investment. Spend $$ on something you can actually use or benefit from. It will eventually be a total net loss when the car is done for whatever reason.
-
I really don't think you guys get that I'm not selling the car and I don't care about making a car that blows the doors of Camaros. I love my car, I want a bit more power of it, I don't care if I'm in it more than its worth. It's priceless to me. The end.

Edited by Crazy Man: 12/5/2014 4:56:19 PMMy advice.. Sell your Celica. Find an AWD 91' Eclipse/Talon/Laser (more affectionately known as the "Triplets") These cars come bone stock Turbocharged with one of the strongest 4cyl blocks ever built, the -4g63-. They can be endlessly upgraded and have the bottom end to support 400hp. They will smoke a Corvette off the line like it's standing still scratching it's ass.. These cars are a blast to drive and tune, and are constantly underestimated by v8's.. More often then not, these little beasts will beat a v8 with ease in a street race because of their ability to put power to the pavement without spinning their wheels.

Hey man I had a 2001 Celica and I -blam!-in loved it. Keep the car just make sure your ready for any repairs that it might need
-
Sell all of it and get a Hellcat. Problem solved. Or do what I"m doing and wait until they make a HellRam or HellWrangler. *drools*
-
you're a disgrace. you not only have a bad car company as your name, but you own a stereotypical one, too? i'm outta here... ( •-•)>
-
I never understood why anyone would pay money to make their car faster. Cosmetics over performance.
-
>Car only gets 197 WITH a turbo HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahajahahahahahahaha... My moms Camry gets more horsepower than that.
-
WHY?? I never understood fascinations with cars!!
mainly because no one loved me enough to teach me :'l
Edited by Tyger: 12/6/2014 4:09:15 AMSell the ca... Buy the new Ching Chong engine and tranny. It'll be much more reliable in the long run. It would suck to drop a turbo in there and then having an old part crap out and put your baby out of commission.
-
So we're talking about Forza, right?
-
Is the source credible, don't let them rip you off
-
super is the only way breh
-
People still drive celicas?
-
Putting on a turbo and it'll only bring it to 190 ish at the crank? That's time for a new car or at least a different motor.
-
Lol dont waste your money lawn mowers are still slow even turbocharged ;). Put a ls1 and turbo it? I even have a turbo small block ford engine for sale I ran in drag radial class
-
Engine swap from an SRT4. It's American so you will be able to find parts for it, comes stock pushing out 15lbs of boost, comes stock with 220bhp and you can do many add-ons.
-
Do you race? Nice car by the way.
-
I would say no, the money you would spend to buy a new engine block and turbo kit isn't worth it.. You're looking at 6k plus on just that... I would just put that as a down payment for a new car that comes turbo installed already like the lancer Evo:.. Find a dealer that sells Evo VIII O higher at a decent price and nab that...

What year celica
