What are some misconceptions that most people have about modern cars? One of the biggest ones, and I hear this from my mother. They think new cars aren't as safe as older cars. New cars on a whole are much safer than older ones. It's amazing how far we've come in such a small time. Also for those of you who don't believe, check the video above. It will show you the truth.

That you can slam your car so low that the wheels stick out because their camber is so -blam!-ed. It seriously -blam!-s with your suspension and wheels and doesn't even look that cool. I've seen way too many cars come in with problems from this, and completely baffled owners..... Buncha morons

Bump because this somehow was made private.

New cars are trash. Most of them have aluminum interior bumpers with styrofoam inserts and a plastic bumper covering it. What a joke. My Solid steel bumper would crush a new car.

Edited by DesticleStomper6: 4/3/2014 3:08:06 PMPeople actually think new cars are less safe then older ones? Can people get any more stupid? Edit: I realize older cars had steel bumpers now so in a way I can't blame them but the tech these days for newer cars as it concerns a collision has improved I'd say.

Does thinking that your new Harley has power count as a misconception about modern vehicles?
-
Myth that people still believe: Diesels are dirty and inefficient. Last thing i need is some ignorant treehugger complaining about my cummins. Happens more often than you think.

Volt go go happy happy BURN BURN!

yes. My Lamborghini and much of my other high wealth cars are very safe. Much safer than my vintage sports cars. Sometimes I crash them for fun because I have the vast wealth to replace them. I am business men u see.... much money..

I'm actually a mechanic at a ford dealership and those roush mustangs are wayyyyy overrated.
-
It's not a misconception. But new cars dont have ash trays :/

Less powerful. At least for those who grew up in the days when everything by GM, Ford, and Chrysler could be had with a V8. (Damn 70s oil crisis!) Admittedly, those massive big blocks cranked out during the pony car wars produced an insane amount of power, but go down the line to the smaller engines, and you've got modern turbo 4s with way less displacement matching their power.

I do always love how old people think that non-steel bodies and a frame designed to crumple up is less safe then a car with a rigid steel body and no airbags. That's the real reason why I really hope I never wreck my Impala.

Edited by MoReCoWbELLx2x1: 4/3/2014 2:57:50 PMI'd still rather have my older car with steel bumpers and not aluminum or carbon fiber body. I also have a roll bar. I can hit things and nothing happens. Granted, I don't have air bags.

That manual is better than automatic. Yeah you're more engaged in driving but who wants to manually change gear every second in traffic, I'd rather live without the hassle.
-
Lol I actually say that video awhile back.

Anybody else?

I am quite aware of the truth. Didn't get a scratch from this one.
