Riddle of Throwback #4
This is my fourth Throwback Riddle, and hopefully it won't be guessed as quickly as the first three. This is called the [u]Riddle of Golden Death[/u].

Who/What am I?
I am part of something bigger. It changes them to make them more powerful, but disadvantaged, yes? My true state is death, and there I remain. However, when one eye meets another, I awaken. I am a sign of doom, though if you are loyal to our cause, you will be joyful. I used to hunt those of the light, but now I burn with the fury of an ancient killer, ruthless yet not evil.
