You then need to level up your vanguard and crucible rank (or faction) to level 3 to get commendations. Then level the legendary gear you obtain from this. Your first priority is to earn 100 vanguard marks (weekly limit) do Strike playlists at highest possible level to earn these fast. You might even get a couple of legendaries from doing this
