Just got a legendary item
My light jumped to 25 instead of 26. Will it still go up as I upgrade my armor?

The Light Level of your armor will increase each time you upgrade it's defense... upgrading the other perks do not affect the Light Level.

Armor should show so much light out of what the max light us on the armor. Light increase as you lvl it up.

Yes; as you upgrade your armor status you will unlock more light so to speak and that will slowly bring up your level.
