Without a painful grind? No. However I find it easy to get legendaries from the cryptarch by ranking up with him. Try gathering lots of blue engrams through ROC strikes and the daily mission. You should level up your cryptarch rank at least once in at most two hours. Another way to obtain legendaries is through ranking up with vanguard and crucible. Just gather as many bounties as you can and choose a journey (PvP or pve). Not only will you gain reputation to rank up (so you can get legendary stuff from postmaster) but you will also get marks to spend at e quartermasters.

6 RepliesEdited by Wowbagger: 1/7/2015 9:57:07 AMDo 37 public events on Earth (gold rating & use public event tracker to find these). Those will give you enough vanguard marks to buy a legendary gun. If you do just one event a day then the gun is yours in 37 days. For a piece of armour you need 75 Vanguard marks so that will take just 19 public events, so 19 days. You also need to do enough patrols to get to vanguard level 2 to be able to buy the armour or level 3 to buy the guns. But if you see public events and patrols as too much of a grind then I guess you have already got the most you can get out of the game and it's time to move on. Forgot to add that you also get a package from the postmaster for the first daily public events - this gives you an extra 2 vanguard marks - so its even quicker than what I wrote above if you just do one event a day - you also get a coin or mote of light from the post master and occasional shards and energies just after the public event ends.

I was very lucky to get an exotic weapon about 12 days after game release from crucible, got my 2nd 2 days ago! For most other things there has been a lot of grinding!

I get pretty good drops from ROC vanguard......unless it's my Titan rng hates my Titan

Ranking and gaining marks for vanguard doesn't take that long. That's the best sure fire way for gear if your any good. Honestly if you don't plan on getting DLC then your just shooting yourself in the foot as long as the grind goes. Do whatever you want though, it's if no consequence to me.

Destiny is all about grinding for gear and if you don't enjoy that then you should probably get your money back.

if you have played this game since launch then you should know the easiest way to get exotics is buying from xur. oh wait you're only level 24. you have 27 hours under your belt so try to play more and get lucky to get legendaries to get to 27+. that's my only advice to you so you can do nightfalls and do the vog raid w/ legendary gears then move to crota when you get higher.

Yup, it's really easy actually. It's the same way you can play 2d platforms without running from left to right. Or racing games without steering. Dude, grinding is the game.
