Xbox servers, get hacked: Down for a few hours
PSN servers, get hacked: Miss Christmas, Boxing Day+XURDAYs
Reason why hackers need multiple tries on Xbox servers? Because it's too tough.
All they need is one try for PSN and the job is done.

Didn't we already clear up this misinformation? Nobody on Christmas got hacked.

Sony has a kill switch for the servers that shuts them down in the event of an attack so that information is less likely to be taken.

Microsoft is a bigger company and have better software it would make sense if their servers were up again fast.

Xbox just threw theirs servers back up. PSN tested and fixed their stuff first..

Honestly, I would hope that Microsoft is better at this since they code operating systems and databases. The fact that they were down at all is scary given the amount of resources they have. On top of that, compromised Windows machines are typically the workhorses of these type of attacks.

Steam got hacked, and 1 server out of 46 was affected for about an hour.

Dude.. They even said Xbox basically had no security compared to sony.. Also. Sony kept their severs down to COMPLETELY solve the problem. Xbox just put them back up with hopes that it never happens again. But I guess we won't know until the next ddos attack on them both. I'm rest assured with hopes that Xbox crashes and Sony stays up. To show the days of them being down paid off.

I have a PS4...Not really too big of a fan of MS due to a lot of their policies but they have the BEST programmers in the world. Software wise they are second to none. Sony makes hardware. The reason XB wasn't down for longer is because MS is better at programming and has better online security/ infrastructure. You can argue all you want about the dashboard sucking etc...but in terms of software...they have a HUGE advantage over sony. Sony was able to make a better system for cheaper due to the fact they own a lot of the hardware production. That's all. Sony will likely keep going down due to lack of experience with DDOS...

This. People tend to get blinded by fan boy rage to think realistically. I prefer Sony just because I've always had Playstation. But Microsoft has more experienced programmers.
