The essence of being a hipster is to avoid doing what everyone else is doing. It's weird counter-culture mumbo-jumbo. So I wouldn't say that someone who follows along with the trend is a hipster, unless that trend is actually being a hipster and in which case just being normal and claiming to be a hipster by opposition is [i]not allowed[/i].
