They use them in the devils lair to keep you to do the three waves, i think that's the only place though

How many times have you ran devil's lair? Have you ever noticed the trip mines blocking the door?

Edit: Just wanted to say I thought the same thing, which is how I found out because I purposely walked into them just to see what happens.

I don't recall if they blow up or not but I know for a fact you die if you touch them. They have the same visual laser from the tutorial.

The one in the beginning tutorial area is a trip mine, as you can tell by the source the laser is coming from (and a dreg ran into it and blew it up), the lasers in Devil's Lair are just lasers that kill you automatically if you touch them. They don't blow up.
