I finally beat the raid last night. I'm a lvl 29 Hunter (was 28 when I did the raid last night) and I don't feel like I was worthless at all. I was on Oracle duty on the left side for the Templar, and I opened the gates and killed Supplicants for Atheon.
Why do people always say that Hunters are worthless? After reading a little bit on this forum, the only thing I can think of is it's because we can't lob thousands of grenades and glitch the bosses. Am I correct? And if I am, then that's silly.

Warlocks are good for the raid because they can revive themselves but as far as titans I don't know

Shield that can hold control plates and the Templars teleport points. Hunters have no purpose. Maybe grabbing the shield on Venus because of their agility.

any class can pull shield duty just as effectively, my hunter is just as good as my clanmates titans and warlocks, and ward of dawn is crappy in 90% of VoG because it just blocks the line of fire and allows praetorian's to close the distance with ease. the deciding factors in PvE is level and gear, class has very little to do with it.

This actually became my job after the latest patch. I found myself raiding with a bunch of people, and I was the most experienced in the group. I was one of three who were primarily on relic duty, and I'm pretty happy with how well my scrappy little hunter did.

If you're holding the gate from the control plate try moving up to where the gate platform is.
