why is it so difficult to find people actually willing to help and just have fun with? so what if you wipe a few times, shits n giggles ... and to people saying it's because they don't like wasting time , guess what? you're playing a game! you already are wasting time!
what happened to just playing for fun, why is it being replaced by "i can do it faster" or "i have more kills!"
it's co-op , yet seems many people forgot what co-op is :(
Edit: My faith in online gamers has been restored ! thanks to all the wonderful replies! and hope to see you all online guardians!

You're probably running into the bad part of the Internet full of ass holes and try hards which are a select few who get to be "those guys"

You just have to know where to look... :-)

Edited by Mach1WRX: 10/21/2014 3:56:47 AMI find plenty of helpful people who point out chests, pitch in with a tough firefight, and jump into a public event to help out. I try to alert people to chests, though some don't get the "firing the gun" hint or are in a rush to get somewhere else. Even though I play a lot of co-op with my brother, we both tend to be aware of other players. Being careful not to butt in on their gaming, but ready to pitch in if a little help is needed. I will go out of my way to try and revive another player, but they usually respawn before I can get to them. i also try to bow or wave to those who have pitched in during a public event. Having done a few solo or with just one other person, I certainly appreciate the extra help..
why is it so difficult to find people actually willing to help and just have fun with?
Its not. I'd help people when I'm on and someone asks to do something.
-
I allways try to be helpful, alas in a battlefield as chaotic as some of the strike missions can be... sometimes i end up being a burden. But i don't quit or do un-sportive things like blocking shots or leaving team mates un revived. Today i had to leave strikes because people would drop out, i wanna think it was an internet disconnection thing, but one never knows.

As long as I'm not busy, or doing clan stuff, I'm always willing to help people. But I'm also 27 years deep into a gaming addiction...
-
we are out there friend....don't let the small number of negative people persuade your mindset into thinking they are the majority....they are just louder and spew opinions constantly is all... =)™
-
We live in a culture of "satisfy me now or I'm moving on," and that goes for everything, not just this game. Good, patient people are out there; don't give up.
-
What is this fun you speak of? Nah, kidding i play raids for fun and loot but mainly its fun.

love when i see posts like this, reminds me i'm not alone :] ever since i first completed the VoG, i've been inviting and carrying first timers through it. nightfalls and weeklys too. the community is not dead, its just been driven underground by the trolls and goblins(lull). the real gamers are still here :] never stop helping. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/74115916/0/0/1 i also have a forum up for XBOXONE players looking to raid or find members. keep helping!

Edited by FighterFajitas: 10/21/2014 3:39:53 AMHeard from someone on my friends list today, joined my game randomly looking for help with the daily. I declined, I had already did the monotonous grind with all of my characters earlier and was a little aggravated at how the game just makes you do the same thing over and over every day to be able to upgrade your weapons and gear. He was cool about it, we had a little chat and I asked if he had done the raid and his reply was " I ... I dont think Ill be doing the raid anymore. I just did it and got yelled at like crazy by one guy". I told him that its no sweat, its basically just a game and that Id help him if he wanted another go at it. We sorted the proper weapons for him to upgrade and told him Id show him everything, no worries if I have to carry him. So, Ill take him on and show him how to do Atheon. Its all very simple anyways, once explained by a competent human being. I get it though, I get that some people dont look up how to do things and just try to do it themselves. Other people who have no patience have problems with that, I dont though. I get more aggrevated at the guy trying to force his opinion of how to play the game on someone else rather than the guy who doesnt know anything but is willing to follow someone else who does. We exist, we are there, and we help whenever we can.

I can say I've met some really cool people playing Destiny.
-
Someone finally thanked me today for getting their attention near a loot chest. Whenever someone is near me, I always shoot, wave & point twice. Most people understand and come over and get their treat, but then they run off. This dude thanked me -- a simple wave & a dance. I rewarded him (or her) by showing him (or her) about half a dozen not well known loot spots. It's the little things, it truly is.

It mostly COD players just wanting to pass time until AW comes out. Hopefully the large negative destiny crowd will move away and we'll be left with the happy people that want to work together :)
-
Actually just finished running two vog virgins through the raid. Had some wipes due to inexperience, but we made it and had fun.
-
I must have done the weekly and nightfall *at least* 8 times this week helping every single person I know in the game get through it. Happy to help and all but like, god damn, I never want to kill Sepiks Prime again.
-
I could've sworn DeeJ said all commentary on the game is helpful, positive or negative. Then again, fanboy logic defies all laws.
-
I feel it is a waste of time when I have already done the raid and am helping out other people who seem to want to wipe and not play more cautiously. I would have rather spent my time trying to obtain Ascendant shards in public events to level me up than spend 6 hours on a possible 2 hour raid.
-
Haven't read all the comments, so not sure if this was said already or not, but I think most of the "helpful" players generally already have their clicks that they run with (at least that's the case with me). That said, I'm always down to help ppl out if they need it and I'm not currently busy.
-
I always try to help out;). But most of the time ppl arent paying attention.(in the case of pointing out a chest) Which is ok:). I tried.

The hashtag #VoG_Virgins lol
-
I did the raid 8x runs with my other members from my clan all lvl 30 just because we were done with the game and shit might I say we had more fun playing with 3 people we met on the forums then anything else. Cheers guys and keep up the help :)

Edited by Comrade Grimm He/Him: 10/21/2014 5:13:57 AMI totally respect this thread, and am reaching out to anyone willing to offer a Hard Checkpoint on the Templar or oracles. If anyone can help that'd be great, Stay beautiful All Message gt: monkey815 Xboxone

Even the little things are appreciated. When I find chests, I wave down other players, point/shoot at the chest so they get a piece of the cake. Or if I see someone jumping around a group of enemies, trying to avoid death, I'll snipe out his/her enemies, to keep them alive. Even when people send me a request to help out on a weekly strike, Heroic or Nightfall, I don't mind helping out if I have the time, even though I've done it for the week already. There's us helpful Guardians watchin' over you from a distance, even if it doesn't seem like it at times

with recent updates coming and lack of chat and randomness no prep. why do I want to waste hours of time trying to teach someone
