why is it so difficult to find people actually willing to help and just have fun with? so what if you wipe a few times, shits n giggles ... and to people saying it's because they don't like wasting time , guess what? you're playing a game! you already are wasting time!
what happened to just playing for fun, why is it being replaced by "i can do it faster" or "i have more kills!"
it's co-op , yet seems many people forgot what co-op is :(
Edit: My faith in online gamers has been restored ! thanks to all the wonderful replies! and hope to see you all online guardians!

I am slowly becoming more Vault-competent as time goes. I will soon be offering help over and above completing the run for myself, because frankly its the prettiest most interesting thing to do in the game. More people need to see it.

If you send me a message about what you want ill probably help you if I'm gonna be on for a while. But if all I get is some random invite, probably not going to join them.
-
It will be better when all the cod kids are gone :)

Anyone who invites me with out a message or a chat invite just to introduce yourself gets ignored. If you are civil I will help anyone out...I've done the raid on normal and hard more times to help others and when it didn't count at all for me, but they are in allied clans. Again if you don't just invite me to your party, and try to communicate in someway what kind of help you need. I'll help anyone...unless it's Tuesday then you better find someone else cuz I'm working on my own journey to thirty...better get those guantlets after work today

Dude, i feel you. my highest character is 28 and as a matter of fact 2 nights ago 2 of my friends and i ( a 27 and a 29) invited a bunch of people in the "Need help for raid" section to do hard mode, we had a gorgon checkpoint. We had managed to recruit a 30 and two 29s. One of the 29s claimed to have an Atheon checkpoint so I eagerly gave him fireteam leader. He kicked me (28) and one of my friends (27). Well, Jokes on them i later got another group of 4 28's, 1 29, and 1 27. We beat hard mode. I got a Mythoclast. :D

"guess what? you're playing a game! you already are wasting time!" Probably the best thing I have ever heard. So true.

Man I have some amazing clan mates that helped me through my first vault of glass run. They were all lvl 29 yet they took the time to help a buddy and I run VOG on normal. They spent 3-4 hours teaching us all the mechanics and showing us all the hidden chests. It was largely a "waste of time" for them but they were happy to help for the sake of just helping us out. I've also had clan mates help me with parts of exotic bounties. I've also helped people finish off their thorn bounties 3 seperate times now. The helpful and those that wanna play for fun are out there. Unfortunately it's the whiners and negative-Nancy's that you'll hear from in the forums 99% of the time

I waist hours trying to help...I have rage quite before, for some people are just plane stupid and don't deserve to be in a raid...

I was invited to a raid group last night at Atheon on hard. I was that guy. The newb. I hadnt even breached the gate on normal before and a group invited me to join. I picked up quickly what I was supposed to do, but I was a low 28, so I had a real uphill battle. But everyone was cool. We tried several times but wiped for different reasons (glad it wasnt just my inexperience, though I know that didnt help..) I started feeling like I was holding them back when one of them said something that meant a lot to me... one of them said, " come on guys, just a few more tries, we have to help Master get some raid rewards, lets keep trying. " Man, I gotta say that was an epic gaming moment for me, even if it was just said jokingly. These were all raid vets, 29s and a few 30s, and they could have booted me at any time for another 30 or 29 player. If you had me in your raid party last night, thanks for a chance at awesome. Even though real life interupted and I had to put my son to bed (who's a 27 titan defender who was freaking out watching his old man get a crack at H mode VoG,.. ;P) I had a blast and really thank everyone for being patient with me and giving me a shot.

People in general are a dying breed. I mean, I don't know a single one that won't die at some point.

I have no issue helping people when I offer to do it or they are polite in their asking. What I don't do is help people who just invite me with no prior warnings or talk to see if I am available/in the mood (giggity). Catch me when I'm tired of farming Spinmetal or getting fed up with RNJesus in the Crucible, and you might just get lucky and score a level 30 for whatever it is you're trying to get down. Catch me when I'm in a bad mood or spam me with useless invites and you might just get lucky and score a Block Communications.

My group runs vog in less than an hr. That being said we took 2 freshlings through last night w/ them being relatively underpowered. Took us alittle over 3 hrs. It was slightly frustrating but the yipees they let out from the checkpts was endearing ;-) hopefully at some point they will guide their own teams :-)

Edited by what's the frequency,: 10/21/2014 1:24:07 PMEdit: this post was a joke that didn't pan out cause I took too long :)

Im willing to help anyone aswell. Just my time is restricted due to work. on every morning from around 7-noon Central. Worst thing though is getting people in patrols that know your looking for materials and they crack boxes without alerting you...ugh..
-
Just depends on what's going on, if I'm tackling some bounties or crucible, I don't need buddies for that. I do it alone. If I'm in the mood to help out with whatever, yeah I'll join it. But most of the time I prefer to do my alone simple stuff.

It's refreshing to see that someone else out there on the interwebs "gets it"... +1

I helped this guy on the Shard mission on the moon. We got wiped about 12 times. Eventually, I got KTO'd. Never knew if he got it. I love jumping in and helping random people.
-
My teams always wipe but I never leave unless we have been stuck at the same spot for over 2 hours. And i always just politely say "sorry guys I gtg thanks for the run" No harm in being honest! I thoroughly enjoy helping new players as long as they listen and not make stupid noises on voice chat. I've had some weird people that just don't stop talking/making noise whilst I'm trying to explain raid mechanics!

No, they are not. My first complete vault run was a with a really helpful lvl29. He even carried us through the nightfall after that. Since then I've been helping around when I'm free.
