When you start playing Destiny, your best bet is to make titan or hunter. Warlocks always end up weaker, because the armor available to them is nowhere near as good as what other classes can equip.
* For example, take the chest slot. My co-op buddy bought the Armamentarium titan chest armor from Xur at the weekend. This is clearly the most overpowered piece of gear in the game, and anyone can have it because Xur sells it:
- Have TWO GRENADES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Carry MORE ROCKETS!!
- Carry countless extra sniper or shotgun rounds
Why don't warlocks have anything like that? Nothing for that class comes even close. This makes the game severely unbalanced. Players who make a titan character instead of a warlock character have a substantial advantage in every situation.
* Another obvious example is the boot slot. Why the lack of exotic boots for the lock class? Exotic boots are available for all classes, -- but not for warlocks! Why? This results in less armour choice for warlocks and a net lack of perks obtained from armour. Titans get exotic boots. Hunters get exotic boots. Warlocks were overlooked. Bungie clearly put a lot of thought into titans and hunters, but self-evidently overlooked warlocks resulting in numerous disadvantages and oversights facing the class which all need to be addressed at some point.
I have checked all available armor for each class. It's confirmed: warlocks have the worst gear. I don't mind there being great armor for other classes. What I do mind is that there is nothing that comes close for locks. Destiny was supposed to be a game in which one class does not have an advantage over the others. That is not the case, mainly due to unbalanced gear. Forget the negligible 1% buff or nerf that Bungie applies to weapons.to improve balance. Look at the huge difference between gear available to different classes.
I dearly hope Xur has Voidfang Vestments again this weekend. I didn't have enough coins for it the previous week, after buying Ice Breaker. I genuinely needed to buy IB when it was sold, because having played every day since day 1 I have literally never had any legendary or exotic weapon drops -- not even one! By comparison, my co-op buddy plays the same games as I do but and gets so much gear he has to shard it to clear space in his vault. Players who get drops don't know how lucky they are. When they switch weapons they are upgrading three weapons as they play. I have to waste kills on upgraded weapons until I save to buy a weapon from Xur or a Vendor. My co-op buddy doesn't usually buy charity handout gear from Xur, because he doesn't have to due to always getting drops, but I really do need it.
EDIT: This is a post about the imbalance of GEAR between classes. Nascent class balance is a more complex issue beyond the scope of this thread. However, the classes are well balanced in this game. If that were not so Bungie would have addressed that before the minor weapon balancing that we are seeing.

Warlock is the best. I laughed so hard at the two grenades bonus you mentioned for the Titan chestpiece..
-
Have you seen the Sunbreaker Gauntlets?! Those things are amazing!
-
Ur stupid man I'm srry for the rudeness I can't come up with better/nicer words
-
Lol I'm a warlock and I dominate I can carry two grenades by default plus with sun breakers (which already look flipping awesome) my grenades last about 12 seconds. I'm pretty sure I've only lost 2 rumble matches and the look on that hunter or Titans face when I self revive and pelt them with grenades. So I don't want to hear one more thing about warlocks suck cause I read this as some shity titan or hunter that can't get kills cause warlocks keep killing him. Go take your shity excuse somewhere else

Sunsinger give unlimited revives. Use fireborn. Die. Switch to radient skin before revive. Revive. Switch back. You keep full super. /thread
-
You definitely haven't seen all the warlock gear then.
-
I feel like warlocks have their place and that's for pve. I'm not saying you can't be a good pvp player as a warlock, but any other class just has one up on them. Golden gun and blade dancer.. Shoulder charge as many times as you want? And warlocks are fairly vulnerable using their supers. Another thing is that warlocks are the only class not able to use an ability at the tower.
-
Warlock gear looks like so ordinary boring and crap compared to the other two classes. That's just my opinion but I'm pretty sure others have mentioned the same thing.
-
Self revive is the primary reason I created the class after maxing out my Titan. It's a fantastic super for nightfalls and hard raids.
-
Edited by psdissonance: 10/20/2014 6:22:20 PMFor what it's worth, my Sunsinger has two grenades and my Praxic gives me extra special/heavy ammo with a boost to c/d reduction to grenades. I'm not sure if I just for really lucky, but hopefully the other Heart of the Praxic Fire chests have the same. Edit: Correction, fusion ammo.
-
Spawn with full grenade energy, recoloring robe perk, faster secondary reload speed, take more damage while casting NovaBomb, spawn more orbs, regenerate health when activating super. What are you talking about? We're crazy OP. Just check out my awesome Jedi Look.
-
What a stupid, ill informed post. You obviously have never seen raid gear ... And warlock sunsingers get two grenades as a skill ... Move along noob
-
My Hunter is on 1385 and my.warlock on 1363 Armour so whats ur point ? where do u see a problem with armour i dont get it
-
Dude warlocks are far superior i mean have you used nice bomb its basically the titan smash that you throw. What about sun singer maybe the super isnt as good but the over shield upgrade with the scorch attack is insane you can get out of situations that you should have died from super easily. Lastly you have the best class upgrade recovery is the most efficient upgrade of them all. On the topic and you will find out that a titan with there armor maxed out( I mean the little bar when you look at the subclass) you will only be able to take 1 extra shot from a Sahara ar 2 auto rifle. Next the hunters maxed out agility vs a titan with the least amount if agility is only about 20 percent faster. Then you can see that the warlock with maxed out recovery vs a hunter with minimum recovery starts healing about 40 percent faster. All these things make the warlock an insane class no amount of armor can make a hunter or titan as insanely good as a warlock in pvp. I am not bias towards warlocks or against them I used both a hunter and warlock also I have a friend who uses the titan after a lot of testing I can say that warlock simply is the best class even there grande types are better and there melee I mean energy drain?! Thats just crazy good but thats for another topic.
-
Bro do you even raid gear? I get 2 extra heavy s and get bombs back like a cracked head I almost always finish top score or in top 3 for pvp and same for pve.
-
Warlock gear is awesome, perfectly in step with the other classes. This post is class envy.
-
I don't think anyone fully understands what you want to be different. Are the raid gears defense ratings different from Titan to warlock? You can also adjust you Armor and Recovery specs in your talent tree. A warlock can spec to have faster recovery than either class and some would argue that is more important than armor

Edited by Sakib23: 10/20/2014 5:52:29 PMi have a warlock. and i have all those perks any titan with armamentarium .... please don't blame the game. get more skill Edit: 2 nades from sunsinger heavy ammo from boots, and there are some gear for carrying other ammos too. and i have ice breaker (infinite ammo) warlocks are fine as is. STEP YOUR GAME UP
-
Totally 100% agree with OP and my warlock is fully leveled both spec's and light 29. There is a lot to be said for self res and the 2 seconds it takes to do it, while telling the whole server your doing it.. oh.. hold on.. Nope thats retarded. At least our special is good we are so much harder to kill when its active.. DAMMIT no still get 1 shot. but i get two grenades to tiggle people with unless i smack one right on the bloke.. then at least i got a postemortem kill out of my special>< Im stuck on my lock in hope of buff. Put so many hours into him and im not gonna quit him, i would rather quit the game. But wouldn't it be nice if you actually fix/balance it bungie. I know i know... novel idea..><

Edited by Sol Atratus: 10/20/2014 5:35:49 PMWarlocks are behind by gear, but by no means weak. Sunsinger Warlocks can have 2 grenades by default and in PvP I wreck havoc as a Sunsinger with Voidfang Vestment (ended the last Rumble match with a 10 killing spree). That Hunters have with their helmets (the symbiote and the mask of the 3rd man) an immense augment to their Supers and Titans aren't really behind with their stuff. But Warlocks have certain advantages when they use their equipment in a clever fashion.
...hey wait...why are we the only ones who need to be clever? Give us extreme equipment too! I want a helmet which gives us shatter and angry magic by default... And another which adds Radiant Skin and Touch of Flame the same way
-
Yeah I have to disagree with you man, the classes are fairly balanced. Yeah the titans may get an extra grenade, but we also can get the same thing from a class perk. Allowing us to slot a different kind of armor to fulfill a different weakness.
-
Self revive and nova bomb, titans have shit compared to that.
-
"Carry countless extra sniper or shotgun rounds"
Are you exaggerating or is it actually infinite?
-
You're just bad at destiny. Sunsingers are the best class for nightfall/hard vog or anything where people may day. Delete yourself
-
You creepy wizards can self revive. How is that not unbalanced for the other classes. Have you played an rpg before? Traditionally the wizard or magic user type class always, i repeat always, has less powerful armor. You spend too much time studying the arcane, or in this case the traveler, to spend as much time at physical combat. There for like in every other rpg your armor is less dmg soaking. At least you get armor most rpgs give wizards robes and special accessories that give bonuses to armor. And you get boots, be thankful you dont have to rock space sandals.
-
I actually prefer using my Warlock. To each their own.
