When you start playing Destiny, your best bet is to make titan or hunter. Warlocks always end up weaker, because the armor available to them is nowhere near as good as what other classes can equip.
* For example, take the chest slot. My co-op buddy bought the Armamentarium titan chest armor from Xur at the weekend. This is clearly the most overpowered piece of gear in the game, and anyone can have it because Xur sells it:
- Have TWO GRENADES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Carry MORE ROCKETS!!
- Carry countless extra sniper or shotgun rounds
Why don't warlocks have anything like that? Nothing for that class comes even close. This makes the game severely unbalanced. Players who make a titan character instead of a warlock character have a substantial advantage in every situation.
* Another obvious example is the boot slot. Why the lack of exotic boots for the lock class? Exotic boots are available for all classes, -- but not for warlocks! Why? This results in less armour choice for warlocks and a net lack of perks obtained from armour. Titans get exotic boots. Hunters get exotic boots. Warlocks were overlooked. Bungie clearly put a lot of thought into titans and hunters, but self-evidently overlooked warlocks resulting in numerous disadvantages and oversights facing the class which all need to be addressed at some point.
I have checked all available armor for each class. It's confirmed: warlocks have the worst gear. I don't mind there being great armor for other classes. What I do mind is that there is nothing that comes close for locks. Destiny was supposed to be a game in which one class does not have an advantage over the others. That is not the case, mainly due to unbalanced gear. Forget the negligible 1% buff or nerf that Bungie applies to weapons.to improve balance. Look at the huge difference between gear available to different classes.
I dearly hope Xur has Voidfang Vestments again this weekend. I didn't have enough coins for it the previous week, after buying Ice Breaker. I genuinely needed to buy IB when it was sold, because having played every day since day 1 I have literally never had any legendary or exotic weapon drops -- not even one! By comparison, my co-op buddy plays the same games as I do but and gets so much gear he has to shard it to clear space in his vault. Players who get drops don't know how lucky they are. When they switch weapons they are upgrading three weapons as they play. I have to waste kills on upgraded weapons until I save to buy a weapon from Xur or a Vendor. My co-op buddy doesn't usually buy charity handout gear from Xur, because he doesn't have to due to always getting drops, but I really do need it.
EDIT: This is a post about the imbalance of GEAR between classes. Nascent class balance is a more complex issue beyond the scope of this thread. However, the classes are well balanced in this game. If that were not so Bungie would have addressed that before the minor weapon balancing that we are seeing.

Dude my level 28 warlock only have 200 less armor then my GF level 29 Titan, warlocks aren't weak in my opinion we're the most powerful out of all three classes
-
It's just not for noobs
-
Heart of Praxic Fire makes it so your cool downs are further reduced while in radiance
-
That's why you have a level 28 warlock...
-
You can self revive
-
I have heart of praxic Fire and it lets me hold more fusion rifle ammo witch I see is very helpful with a vex mythoclast and regular legendary fusion(sometimes if I'm not sniping)
-
Sunsinger class gets two grenades, combine with voidfang vestments and you have two every time you spawn.
-
Cute troll every one knows warlocks are one of the cheapest classes...
-
My warlock gets 2 grenades without armor perks? Add perks that strengthen grenades, increase heavy ammo (Not just rockets), Make my melee vaporize people faster. No please make more titans :)
-
Your dumb. ive got my perks adjusted to where my armor stat and recoverability stat are high as hell on my warlock. And my armor rating is the same as my buddy who plays a titan. I think the exotic armors are great for the warlock if you understand how to use them. Just because its your opinion doesnt make it true. Freedom of speech isnt freedom to be correct.

My warlock is amazing.

Edited by Mittay12: 10/21/2014 8:43:41 AMIt's like max of 7 rockets regardless of the perks, not a huge game breaker there. Special ammo is easy to get in PVP and PVE, nothing there worth noting. (If you have IB Sniper it does nothing to it) The only good thing about it is the high disc to lower the grenade CD and the extra grenade. Grenades also take longer to throw and prepare for than a few shots with a hand canon. It's all situational there. It's basically excellent for knocking bosses off ledges, but that wont be there for much longer!

Voidfang vestments is EASILY one of the BEST exotics. Respawn with grenades? If you're specced into two grenades you respawn with two. Warlocks can self-res........... I hope this post is a joke.

Apoyheosis Veil and Heart of Praxis fire turn sunsingers into two different kinds of nasty. That, and since sunsinger can obtain two nades, raid chest and feet gear offer bonuses to special and heavy ammo respectively, armamentarium is negated by basic high level gear. I can agree with intraclass imbalance. Why use sunbreakers when praxis fire is just better, Discipline and MORE nade spam is superior to longer grenade duration of ONE grenade.
-
Haha please the warlocks do not need a buff... You super ability may aswell be a -blam!-ing nuke, the is basically no getting away from it like all the outher classes, if the warlock was to be buffed it would be the most over powered class
-
Clearly you missed the infinite super/revive perk. Only the elite few found this.
-
This my first time playing a game like destiny , I chose warlock and I'm level 27 , then I started a Titan and I actually thought playing with the warlock was easiest
-
Edited by FalconStrike98: 10/20/2014 8:03:59 PMDidn't read the wall of text, but Warlocks are awesome! Their stats make up for the lack of armor stats. If Warlocks aren't for you, then just change.
-
I've played with each character and each subclass; the Warlock is the best out of the three. The Hunter has it's invisibility, throwing knife and golden gun; but they're not REALLY invisible because they can still be seen just like in an enemy in PvE, the throwing knife is extremely accurate so if you're a hair line off then it's going to miss and the golden gun only has three bullets and it too is very accurate so you have to be very accurate. The Titan has the shoulder charge, juggernaut and fists of havoc; but the shoulder charge is easy to side step, juggernaut doesn't protect the back and fists of havoc can be avoided if you double jump at the right time. The Warlock can resurrect after death with Fireborn, has grenades that can home onto opponents if thrown close enough(the titan and hunter have these too but they must be thrown closer than the Warlocks), not to mention that they can get an additional grenade, Radiance gives you rapid recharged grenades(which is also activated with Fireborn, AND THAT'S JUST WITH SUNSINGER! For the Voidwalker subclass I have just two words for you: NOVA BOMB!!! End of story, point made.
-
I'm not taking sides, the warlock is basically the "Mage" class, and that class usually has way less defense than the "warrior" and the "rogue." The "Mage" class also has a high attack/damage stat, so it goes with how the warlocks super is basically an instant kill in PVP.

Edited by TouchMyGoldnGun: 10/21/2014 7:46:27 AMI agree. As a warlock voidwalker leveling up was a pain. Kept dying. Fireteam laughs at me. Damn warlock's dead again. Man down. All the time. Level 20+... Pve sunsinger, vog hard, you're a valuable player. Either doin it legit or not. Pvp, sunsinger is like bladedancer with spammable grenades, fast cooldown melee(sheilds galore), shotgun combo.... You may wanna try it. Oh have you tried blink + nova bomb combo in a control node halfway getting captured? Lol....
-
Not sure what games youve been playing but there is and has always been the trade off on games. Armor vs. Power. Sunsinger self rez, rain granades. Void walkers can clear a fireteam of guardians from the back 40 and thats your trade. That with titan armor would have me flipping out worse than the fact yall cruise by and vaporize my hunter before i can raise my rifle. Its abot co-op your the glass cannon. Enjoy that insane dmg bonus and keep your head behind your titans back.
-
Depends on what you like to do. The warlock is made for the vault because of his void damage and re spawn. The hunter is best in pvp and the titan is the best all around class.
-
Looks like several people don't know how to use a warlock lol
-
Warlock is the best. I laughed so hard at the two grenades bonus you mentioned for the Titan chestpiece..
