I believe that bungie seriously needs to separate pve weapon numbers and pvp numbers when it comes to damage output. It is the same thing that most games that have both pvp and pve realized, that if you separate them out it makes it better. For example I am going to post something I posted as a response to someone elses post about the Vex weapon from VoG HardMode.
"What about the shotgun, I see a lot of talk about Vex, but honestly shotgun in PVE before was pretty useless, now with this nerf to shotguns across pvp and pve, it hurts pve so much more. Before you still had to be up in the enemies ballsack to do any damage, now with the dropoff rate at range doing even less, means you can't just be at his balls anymore it means you have to be halfway up his ass to do any damage. PVP and PVE should have separate values with games that have pve and pvp, so that way when something is Overpowered in pvp it doesn't make it harder to PVE against NPC creatures...."
The shotgun though effective in pvp has pretty much always sucked in pve and made it to where almost no one uses it in pve. Which this current patch going live it will make them even worse for pve and might make the few people that actually use a shotgun in pve stop using them altogether and use something else. All weapons should be a viable option in a game like this.
EDIT: throwing out some real world facts for you guys as well, on real life shotguns. Enjoy.
In real life with a full choke on a shotgun, at 15 yards <---- yards now that is 45 feet, the spread is only about 11-12 inches that is little less than to a foot. at 15 yards that is a pretty big distance and only 1 foot of spread, that means in circumference of the area hit not the spread between each pellet, so at 15 yards someone can put a 1 foot blast of pellets into you, which will most likely kill you. That in the case of this game is not, so you can hit someone with a shotgun in this game in pve, and from 3 feet away you can see the pellets spread to about 6 feet.
EDIT: And for those that are seemingly having a problem comprehending , the #2 option They should keep nerfing all around means (spelled out for you) NO they should keep nerfing for PVP and PVE together. So to reiterate in yet another form, NO they should keep doing it the way they are doing now. Now stop commenting on you don't understand the poll use your brain (for those of you having problems with it).
If you agree let me know, if you don't agree let me know why you feel that they should be together and it shouldn't matter.

personally I'm glad the shotguns got a -blam!-ing nerf. too many COD SOB'S running around with no skill. now i do, however, agree that they should separate nerds and buffs from PVE and PVP.
