I'll be addressing this in the Weekly Update.
Preview: Power Matters, but so does skill.

Please not only address it, fix it. We rocked not only that one team but numerous others with a level 4-6 on our team. And he wasn't getting help.
-
But by then iron banner will be almost over. Fantastic!
-
So kind that you graced us with your presence deeJ, with absolutely no answers.... Only your vague riddles. Nice play.

Skill has no factor when the level difference is so high. If Iron Banner was really how Bungie made it out to be, then a level 4 should not be able to do ANY damage to a level 20 or above. Look at the story mode, when we were level 8, we couldn't do any damage to a level 20. It's the same exact thing as regular Crucible. Power does NOT matter. Even if it did, there's a very little difference. Not enough to make an entire new playlist out of it. There was a level 2 with 19 kills today in Iron Banner. He was 1 shotting me with a shotgun. Like I said, Iron Banner is useless. There's no difference.
-
K, so I watched the video. He had teammates around him the entire time and was doing little damage compared to what I am used to doing with my lvl 28 in Crucible. Looks like gear matters, just not to the point where he gets facerolled by higher levels.
-
Do you really want a lvl 4 to do NO damage to a level 20 or above?
-
Do you really want a lvl 4 to do NO damage to a level 20 or above?
Yes lol... it's IB, no one is forcing that lvl 4 play that event.
-
Yes that's the point, if you didn't gear up don't play
-
Not completely zero, but... Yeah. Lvl 4 should get eaten alive by any competent 20+... And by competent I mean able to point and fire a weapon.
-
Do you really want a lvl 4 to do NO damage to a level 20 or above?
In IB.. YES.
-
-
Not to be a dick, but the level 4 shouldn't even be matched with high twenties. This game type is to exploit level and gear advantages. You should only be able to enter at level 20 or higher. Or at least be matched into a level bracket. The way WOW does battlegrounds.
-
I agree with the bracket idea, only way to make a true competion of skill.
-
Since there isn't a matchmaking for level brackets, you don't think that a level 4 doing literally ZERO damage is a bit harsh?
-
I think it is harsh. But I suppose the iron banner is supposed to be harsh. If I grind 6 hours on hard mode raid to get the gear. I shouldn't be taking damage from a level 4 using commons. I'm just saying, it should be to the point that low levels are discouraged from joining. The same way you level up to do better at a raid. So you don't get one shot

What I saw doesn't make me feel any different. But I agree a lvl 4 should do nothing to 27-30 lvl players.
-
YES? why does a level 4 deserve to have a chance in the iron banner?? It should encourage you to level up and come back when you're ready! That's the Point of it.
-
Because its a game. Do you want it to be completely uncompetitive so you can faceroll everyone lower level than you? Or would you still want to give everyone some semblance of a chance? I'd go for the latter in all of my MP games.

But there should be one type of special event where all your best stuff should count for something. That event should be IB.
-
But this is a special event designed to give people an advantage for having better equipment. Regular Crucible should be set up so that no matter what level you are you have a chance. This is something entirely different.
-
If you want to play with the big dogs, you have to EARN your stripes. Simple.
-
Oh, so should level 1 player on World of Warcraft be able to have a chance to beat a level 90? NO. Different game or not, it's the same concept. This is Iron Banner, not regular Crucible.
-
There aren't PvP modes for a lvl 1 to take on a lvl 90. Destiny is different, all levels are in the same queue. There has to be some mechanisms to allow for lower levels to at least be able to compete (not dominate) in modes like IB.

Just as if you're a lvl 20 player it'll tell you to get better gear to complete a lvl 26 mission. I'd say make requirement to enter the tournament be at least lvl 19. What do you think?
-
No. That's what regular Crucible is for. That's why they made it EQUAL. Iron Banner is DIFFERENT. Crucible is for the casual players. IB is for the hardcore players. Plain and simple. A level 4 isn't hardcore, sorry.
