It's getting to be a common thing now during the Lvl 24 Strikes that I see these kids race as fast as they can through the Strike usually hopping on their speeder bypassing the first several mobs of lower level enemies which is fine but then they continue on and bypass as many of the Lvl 24 enemies as they can just to get to the final boss quicker.
Why? The boss gives you nothing and your chances of getting anything worthwhile from the end game roll are poor odds for the amount of time it takes to complete each Strike. Your best shot of getting a Legendary Engram drop or at least multiple blue Engrams to give you a chance at Legendary gear and to rank up the Cryptarch is to kill every Lvl 24 enemy up to the boss because that is where all of my Legendary Engrams have come from and I get at least half of my blue Engrams from Mob drops to go along with what I get in the end game roll.
The Lvl 24 Tiger Strikes since the last patch appear to have a higher drop rate than the normal game modes at least in the areas you're facing Lvl 24 enemies, and so bypassing them to finish the Strike faster is just decreasing your chance of getting multiple drops. There's little other reason to be grinding Lvl 24 Strikes in that manner because you can earn Vanguard rep faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks faster farming Public Events, and if you need a bunch of Strikes for a Bounty run the Lvl 8 Devil's Lair on Earth and get them done quick.
So don't be that guy that runs way out ahead of everyone else. Don't waste you and your teammates chances for more Legendary/Exotic drops. It doesn't take but an extra 5 minutes or so to clear out all the Lvl 24 enemies your bypassing between you and the Boss when you do it as a group.

Only reason i would do a quick run would be for the 25 strikes exotic bounty other than that i would take my time
-
I rush through sometimes. Not all the time, I go with the flow pretty much. Because I can't be mad. Especially when there are bounties that require ridiculous amounts of strikes repeated. And I know that people get tired of doing the same strike over and over and over. Especially when you're in The Playlist and they give you Phogoth 3 times in a row and then Valus 3 times in a row. You just want to get it OVER WITH. At the same time, if both of my team mates are going through it the normal way, I'll usually hang out and do it with them. Still, it sucks to know i've gotta complete 50 strikes or I've got to to be the one to make the very last shot on the Fallen Walker, and to take the full time each time through. No way.
-
Agreed. I get left behind because I kill the waves before the bigger sections. Sometimes I will run through if the two others have already done so.
-
Lol, this happens all the time. I'll be trying to take out most but everyone runs past. I understand they wanna finish the strike ASAP which is fine, but I usually get a few blue engrams from lower enemies :)
-
The more enemies you kill the better... Am I really having to say this?
-
Lol who kills the non mission enemies? Only noobs that's who
-
I rush through strikes because it's easy and an effective way of just getting through it. I have just as good a chance getting engrams from enemies doing anything but strike. It doesn't matter. I just don't feel like wasting time making sure everything is dead when I'm more the powerful enough to ignore enemies and finish strikes in or around 10 minutes. Oh and I'm working on an exotic bounty for bad juju so yeah, I'm gonna rush through strikes, kill enemies that are obstacles and complete the strike.
-
If one of the guys take of running I just go along with it. Ok I'll get done faster and have more time for other stuff.
-
people race to finish the strike ppl don't want to play the RNG game with you.
-
I think its more abt people not wanting to keep killing the same mobs back to back to back to back doing the same 3-4 strikes. Especially after we just completed that same strike. Why not rush to the boss? Not saying it's something I do, but I can see why it may happen.
-
Don't forget Vanguard Marks. Rushing through many strikes over a small period of time = lots of Vanguard marks, and the ability to buy legendary gear - still a more straight forward and reliable method than relying on RNG which rarely works for enemies outside of key areas in strike missions.
-
If thats true then why not just start up the Devils Lair strike and farm the Loot cave 2.0?

im one of these so called "kids" im 35 by the way not a kid at all.

The reward is at the end. The point of the strike is to kill the boss, not the scores of enemies before it. I've ranked up the cryptarch many times this weekend after getting 3-4 engrams per run. This has resulted in four legendary items for just a handful of hours of grinding. Speed runs work.
-
Actually you're wrong. The odds are better in the rewards (no facts or numbers just experience) killing guys is futile. Just race through.. Kill boss get reward = profit.. I have 9 exotics, ask me now I got most of them.
-
I agree. My favorite part is when those guys rush past everyone and die when they actually have to fight. And just in case any of you guys are reading this, if you're playing with me, and I don't ever revive you.. Now you know why :) at least be good enough to not die.. Is that so much to ask?
-
This. And Ghost hunting.
-
I do it so I can cap my vanguard marks quicker and receive the experience to rank up my vanguard rank. But once I'm in the restricted area I actually start playing for real. I prefer to not waste my time on something that's very random, and 70% of the time green anyways. I've gotten many blue engrams from what I've been doing so I'm good.
-
Edited by pajama dad: 10/5/2014 10:25:16 PMIt all depends... Speeding through get a guaranteed random roll (what an oxymoron) is certainly quick. I like killing the low level enemies at times. Its fun. My two exotics gave been from random crucible rewards, and rng at the end of a strike. Mobs don't drop nearly enough in my meager experience to be worth farming unless youre also completing other goals.
-
You have no proof that "taking your time" gets you more chance of legendary. You get the chance of legendary upon completion. So why waste time with all the lower level enemies when yuk can just skip them, go straight to th boss and get ready for the next strike. If you wanna sit there shooting low level enemies all day long do patrol.
-
The only time I race through a strike is when I'm doing the bounty to not die. In that case I'm just getting it out of the way so I can play the harder difficulty
-
just sit back and let the rushers, kill the boss for you, if they die dont revive them, if they leave before you get to the boss, they might come back thinking you have made it up to the boss and becomes an easy win for them, I would just leave, and they can come back if they friend you on the xbox one since you dont have to confirm who is trying to friend you. Overall your best bet is to play strikes with people you know.
-
They may have the exotic Bad juju which requires 25 strikes
-
You're assuming that those people are speeding through to get a lucky legendary? And not trying to get strikes done for a bounty in a reasonable amount of time or for some other reason?
-
RNG is RNG. You have the same chance of getting a Legendary drop from mobs in the level 8 Devil's Lair. Rushing allows you to get dem sweet RNG lewts from the reward table instead, which is totally more efficient... probably... maybe... not...
