It's getting to be a common thing now during the Lvl 24 Strikes that I see these kids race as fast as they can through the Strike usually hopping on their speeder bypassing the first several mobs of lower level enemies which is fine but then they continue on and bypass as many of the Lvl 24 enemies as they can just to get to the final boss quicker.
Why? The boss gives you nothing and your chances of getting anything worthwhile from the end game roll are poor odds for the amount of time it takes to complete each Strike. Your best shot of getting a Legendary Engram drop or at least multiple blue Engrams to give you a chance at Legendary gear and to rank up the Cryptarch is to kill every Lvl 24 enemy up to the boss because that is where all of my Legendary Engrams have come from and I get at least half of my blue Engrams from Mob drops to go along with what I get in the end game roll.
The Lvl 24 Tiger Strikes since the last patch appear to have a higher drop rate than the normal game modes at least in the areas you're facing Lvl 24 enemies, and so bypassing them to finish the Strike faster is just decreasing your chance of getting multiple drops. There's little other reason to be grinding Lvl 24 Strikes in that manner because you can earn Vanguard rep faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks faster farming Public Events, and if you need a bunch of Strikes for a Bounty run the Lvl 8 Devil's Lair on Earth and get them done quick.
So don't be that guy that runs way out ahead of everyone else. Don't waste you and your teammates chances for more Legendary/Exotic drops. It doesn't take but an extra 5 minutes or so to clear out all the Lvl 24 enemies your bypassing between you and the Boss when you do it as a group.

with the new update to loot for it you get better loot speed clearing it then you get for the kills but for many players like me i dont realy need any thing from the strikes i play them for fun and work on the raid for gear loot
-
Why are you complaining? marks are far more reliable for your legendaries. And even then they are useless too because raid gear is better. Let people use their 60$ how they see fit you turd.
-
lmao I raced through it all the time and got 2 legendary engrams back to back
-
I myself speed through the lesser enemies because I find them boring. Its a waste of my time when I don't need the engram's. The gear that I have is already better than pretty much anything that will ever come out of a engram. I do the playlist for non specific strike bounties instead of running devils later because of the guaranteed blue that can become a mote of light. Other than that strikes are pointless and boring when the only thing I have left to gather is the rest of my raid gear.
-
Why do you say that the drop rate is increased? I don't think it actually is.
-
Ive gotten a legendary or at least 3-4 rewards at the end of the tiger playlist and i never kill any of the p-ons. So the drops ur getting are just as random as if u didnt kill any p-ons. However since u r killing more people u have more of a chance of those enemies dropping loot but its not a higher chance due to their level. The end game rewards are random no matter what

Edited by Your Absent Father: 10/5/2014 8:34:16 PMSince the patch I've received an exotic primary weapon and three legendary engrams at the end of strikes and get at least one blue engram most times. Trash mobs give blue engrams but mostly greens which I no longer even pick up on purpose. I skip every mob I can on a level 24 strike, but I don't mind if the other two guys clean the trash mobs of they want. You play your way and we'll play our way. And strikes are the best way to farm marks for me. Most strikes can be done in under 20 minutes.
-
excellent observation. I always thought I was stupid for wanting to fight them all when all the higher level dudes are racing by me.
-
Do it live.
-
By you account you want everyone you get paired with to stand outside of the strike and kill trash that continues to respawn over and over? No thanks. Based on the on the new updates to the loot system (no comment for or against here) this is a waste of time anyway. lower drop rates and more rewards for completion. Get with the program here. I don't have time wait for you folks. There is to much to do and to much story to uncover....< ummm anyway.
-
Thanks for the info. I actually never thought about the drop rate; I always just rushed to the boss to finish. No longer!
-
None of these "guys" will ever read your post mate. And honestly, i've done a 48 hours non stop farm on Mars and Venus cut in 2. 24 hours prior to the patch and 24hours post patch. The rate drop of Blues and Legendary engram got dramatically lowered in world drops. I got over 30 leg prior to the patch. Less than 10 post patch. But then again... my luck might've ran out on day 2.

I'm sorry but when I run a strike, I've already seen it at least 15-20 times before. I can't help it if I know exactly what to do to finish quickly, and there is very little point in fighting a single wave of enemies that you can generally just skip. You shouldn't even be caring. If you don't like that someone is speed running leave the strike -- trust me I would solo speed run my own strikes if Bungie would allow me, because 95% of the time people like you simply do stuff that slows it down. Alas, we're forced to use matchmaking whether we want to or not. Furthermore, your entire concept of legendaries being more likely to drop when full-clearing is also inadequate at best. You might be right if you only plan to run a single strike, but when you run multiple strikes the chance of a legendary from the rewards screen far outweighs a single, small wave of low-level enemies' chance. Don't complain about lowering your chances for legendaries when it actually raises it. In fact, just don't play strikes at all. Go do crucible -- you get gear there no matter how well or badly you play, and you even have a chance at exotics.
-
I'll keep speeding through just to annoy you, dont pick me up if i die? fine i'll wait my 30 seconds
-
Theres no higher chances though ..its the same rng ..
Time and time again during the Lvl 24 Strikes I see these kids race as fast as they can through the Strikes usually hopping on their speeder bypassing the first several waves of lower level enemies and some even bypassing many of the Lvl 24 enemies as well just to get to the final boss. Why? The boss gives you nothing and your chances of getting anything worthwhile from the end game roll are terrible. Your best shot of getting a Legendary Engram or at least multiple blue Engrams that one might turn into a Legendary item is to kill every single enemy up to the boss because that is where all of my Legendary Engrams have come from. The Lvl 24 Strikes have a higher drop rate than the normal game modes and so bypassing even low level enemies at the start is just bypassing your chance of getting Legendary gear. You're basically just wasting yours and everyone else's time in the Strike because there's no other reason to do Strikes. You can earn Vanguard rep 5x faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks 5x faster farming Public Events, and if you need Strikes for a Bounty run the Lvl 8 Devil's Lair on Earth. Don't be that guy. Don't waste your time.
I noticed a real change of behaviour in the last week. Players standing not playing at all or running in as you mention. It pretty much screws up the entire game IMO. This behaviour could be the real death knell for Destiny. If it doesn't function as a single player story mode and it doesn't function playing with other players, what's left? Crucible? Not for me.
-
how about inviting your friends and do strikes together. because, you know, randoms will play the way they want to and not how you want them to :/
-
-
The reliable rewards come at the end of the strike. Doing more strikes per hour will result in roughly the same number of mob kills with more end-of-strike engrams. If you want to play slow and kill every enemy then start a fireteam with your friends and have fun, but stop complaining about other people shooting for maximum efficiency.
-
TL;DR QQ and more QQ
-
There isn't an increased drop chance during strikes just a chance for a legendary at the end. People rushing then most likely want the rep or have a bounty for it.
-
And there was me thinking it would be a higher chance of a reward for completing the strike.
Who's the goose? Hur hur me!
-
I will only speed run if I am with my fireteam because well.... We like to speed run. But I would not run a level 24 strike. It's good fun to kill all the bad guys.
-
In a strike there are 2 other people who probably want to get it finished quickly. I can grind mobs for lucky drops on my own time. No need to involve someone else who may have different time constraints or goals.
-
Only reason i would do a quick run would be for the 25 strikes exotic bounty other than that i would take my time
