It's getting to be a common thing now during the Lvl 24 Strikes that I see these kids race as fast as they can through the Strike usually hopping on their speeder bypassing the first several mobs of lower level enemies which is fine but then they continue on and bypass as many of the Lvl 24 enemies as they can just to get to the final boss quicker.
Why? The boss gives you nothing and your chances of getting anything worthwhile from the end game roll are poor odds for the amount of time it takes to complete each Strike. Your best shot of getting a Legendary Engram drop or at least multiple blue Engrams to give you a chance at Legendary gear and to rank up the Cryptarch is to kill every Lvl 24 enemy up to the boss because that is where all of my Legendary Engrams have come from and I get at least half of my blue Engrams from Mob drops to go along with what I get in the end game roll.
The Lvl 24 Tiger Strikes since the last patch appear to have a higher drop rate than the normal game modes at least in the areas you're facing Lvl 24 enemies, and so bypassing them to finish the Strike faster is just decreasing your chance of getting multiple drops. There's little other reason to be grinding Lvl 24 Strikes in that manner because you can earn Vanguard rep faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks faster farming Public Events, and if you need a bunch of Strikes for a Bounty run the Lvl 8 Devil's Lair on Earth and get them done quick.
So don't be that guy that runs way out ahead of everyone else. Don't waste you and your teammates chances for more Legendary/Exotic drops. It doesn't take but an extra 5 minutes or so to clear out all the Lvl 24 enemies your bypassing between you and the Boss when you do it as a group.

Edited by Turferpop: 10/5/2014 10:13:51 PMThis is by far, one of the worst post I've seen. If I can finish the striker soone, that means I can get my ass onto another strike. I'm not snailing through strikes for no reason.
-
I usually do strikes just to complete bounties. Since they are a bit tiresome (Devil's Lair? AGAIN???), I race through. To be fair though, I wait to see if the other two members are racing as well. Higher level strikes on the playlist I enjoy playing through, though.

Edited by xRANDALLxFLAGG: 10/5/2014 10:14:57 PMI think the best way to look at it is time spent and speed of kills. Take the current mars strike for example. mars foes seem harder to kill for most at the same level. Think about it this way: The time saved racing thru the strike will get you far more kills for your time in other areas of the game than the kills you will get against lvl 25 guys. As far as we know, drops are the same regardless of mob level. unless this has changed? Also, if you want to talk with your fireteam members, it takes two seconds to create a party and invite them. be proactive. I bet most gamers will help you kill extra enemies if you ask, I know I would.

Buddy if you wanna farm, with all respect go farm on your own.Don´t force others to help you kill enemmies just beacuse you want to. I do strikes for the vanguard marks mostly which will guarantee me legendary gear so I really don´t need or want to kill foes other than the ones who are mandatory to put down to keep mooving or the ones who stand in my way. I dont wanna farm public events either, if you are on the strike I think cooperation is to help each other so as to do it as fast and as well as possible, not to help farming. Make a fire team and tell them if they wanna farm on the strike and play with them. Don´t force random people to play your way.
-
I go until I can't skip anymore. I do the strikes for marks not RNG drops.
-
I just do strikes for quick Vanguard points.
-
"whateva. i do what i want." im a destiny speed runner. i bypass anythin not worthwhile.
-
Agreed. I mean sure some strikes skipping enemies is okay, like Devils lair and valas t'arch. But skipping with the vex? No. Help your damned teammates.
-
Also the more you kill the more you increase your grimoir and the more you increase it the higher chances of drops you will get. I do think we need a way to handle players who are impatient. If you want to Speedrun do it with your friends.
-
Playing through strikes and killing every enemy hoping for engrams is a waste of time. Speed running them and getting reward engrams and then turning them into the cryptarch and leveling the cryptarch level to get legendaries from the postmaster has much more reward.
-
I posted the same exact thing a little while ago and they thing farming lv8 enemy's in the 24 strike gets them extra and leaves the team short. I've tried to explain only the lv 24 gives extra blues.

Jesus everyone is so mad. I say do both. Have one or 2 people run ahead and start the events, while the rest go through and kill mobs. If you stop and think nearly every single strike has a stopping point, a point the other people cant proceed till a certain action is done. While they are doing that you are cleaning mobs along the way to the event. The mobs will drop engrams for both sides, and the event should be midway or finishing by the time you get there. In every strike there is a stopping point, which gives the mob cleaners enough time to catch up, help, and continue in one fluid motion. Its when you try to separate these 2 into their own things do you really mess up the system. The only times I can see rushing ahead and not getting loot drops from your teams kills would have to be against the archeon priest strike, and mabey the Venus Ishtar sink strike only because of the distance. Everyone should play how they want to, and by trying to tell people how to play, they in turn should be able to tell you how to play, which just ends in a bunch of kids arguing on the internet on who's nuts are bigger because they are the highest lvl, pro, mlg, highest truskill and etc.
-
I will race through a strike if I want to hurry up and complete it to get my Vanguard points or to do an exotic contract. But I do understand your frustration. Sometimes I want to take my time and the other guy- or two- is just high-tailing it through the entire level.

Edited by Prototape: 10/5/2014 9:58:08 PMWell when the playlist makes me do the damn Mars strike 5 or 6 times in a row, you bet I'm going to speed through some of the more low-key areas. Maybe I am missing out on some potential loot drops, but holy hell. I couldn't get away from that one and Phogoth yesterday, I think I got to do the Venus one once. Once they start going on a regular cycle of the maps instead of just re-doing the same ones over and over, I'll probably stop speeding through. And I don't want to just quit and leave the rest of the team there alone, because that's an even worse move. If I don't get a legendary drop, I at least rank up with the Cryptarc at a pretty steady rate now. It looks like his rank up rewards have been nerfed a bit, but that's fine. It's still a relatively guaranteed shot as opposed to just hoping I get a legendary engram from a level 15 enemy outside of the mission area. I still have fun with it even if I zip through some areas, and that's what's mostly important to me. If the team falls too far behind I'll wait or go back. I really only need legendary gear now to break it down for Ascendant Shards. I like my setup, and the gear I have in my vault is waiting to be leveled up now.
-
i used to take my time, but after doing each strike hundreds of times, at this point im just going through the motions for the rep and marks. i give up on the RNG and will just buy my stuff. this game is just kinda getting meh for me. too bad i was one of the guys standing up for it for so long, and finally im falling in with the rest of the crowd.
-
I think you're wrong. You can get exotics from the rewards. I got The Last Word. The only reason I've been flying through the strikes is cause I'm desperate for Hard Light and Icebreaker.
-
I'm BPUDDIN817 and I approve this message lol
-
It depends. I believe it were only the Darkness Zones where it's boosted. Like you can't farm in the very start of the Nexus with all the Fallen and Vex and just get Legendaries galore. Those are the parts where I'd just rush through.
-
Your engrams will be waiting for you in the Tower, so what's your point?
-
100% agree. Those people are also the people complaining about lack of legendary drops too.
-
Today was the only time I experienced this. Some kids raced ahead and I got stuck in a place that was hard to run past on your own. I got there in the end, but that's the problem when you cannot communicate prior to a game taking place.
-
your best bet, to be honest, is to make your own fireteam of like-minded individuals. I understand your thought process. I do it occasionally as well...the only place that I don't do this is devil's lair...i will ride my sparrow past that entry area. Every other area, I will kill enemies on my way. Hell, alot of the time during strikes, I'll walk. I find it that if you have headsets, you can actually hear the sounds of chests/collectible materials, and speeders mask those sounds. With that being said, I try not to do strikes unless I have a full fireteam. In the odd event that I do matchmake strikes, then I'll take a look at the rest of my fireteam. If they look like they want to take their time, I'll go with them. If not...then meh.
-
I don't really mind when people race ahead. They can deal with the boss while I enjoy taking my time.
-
Lol speed ftw
-
Who cares? Play with your friends lol I do w.e and dont worry about drops because im strapped
-
I took my time with the Aksor Archon Priest strike the other day just because it's my favorite of all the strikes and I was handsomely rewarded with my first Legendary Engram since the patch. I took it to cryptarch who handed me an Icebreaker exotic sniper. Going a little slower and killing all the adds paid off big time.
