It's getting to be a common thing now during the Lvl 24 Strikes that I see these kids race as fast as they can through the Strike usually hopping on their speeder bypassing the first several mobs of lower level enemies which is fine but then they continue on and bypass as many of the Lvl 24 enemies as they can just to get to the final boss quicker.
Why? The boss gives you nothing and your chances of getting anything worthwhile from the end game roll are poor odds for the amount of time it takes to complete each Strike. Your best shot of getting a Legendary Engram drop or at least multiple blue Engrams to give you a chance at Legendary gear and to rank up the Cryptarch is to kill every Lvl 24 enemy up to the boss because that is where all of my Legendary Engrams have come from and I get at least half of my blue Engrams from Mob drops to go along with what I get in the end game roll.
The Lvl 24 Tiger Strikes since the last patch appear to have a higher drop rate than the normal game modes at least in the areas you're facing Lvl 24 enemies, and so bypassing them to finish the Strike faster is just decreasing your chance of getting multiple drops. There's little other reason to be grinding Lvl 24 Strikes in that manner because you can earn Vanguard rep faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks faster farming Public Events, and if you need a bunch of Strikes for a Bounty run the Lvl 8 Devil's Lair on Earth and get them done quick.
So don't be that guy that runs way out ahead of everyone else. Don't waste you and your teammates chances for more Legendary/Exotic drops. It doesn't take but an extra 5 minutes or so to clear out all the Lvl 24 enemies your bypassing between you and the Boss when you do it as a group.
-
because we dont need them.. we're grinding the bounties not strikes for gear lmao :)
-
I race to the boss. It's much more efficient in 10 mins than going 30 mins only hoping to see loot. And more importantly it's the same mind-numbing, stupid, repetiive horde based approach on every strike. It's the same shite, different strike approach Destiny is famous for. And when you get said loot then you can look forward to mind-numbing, stupid, repetitive hours of farming to upgrade it.

I found more legendary engrams from lvl 2-6 enemies than from higher lvl enemies and theres no official bungie statement about those droprates. I also rush through the strike playlist sometimes because I want the guaranteed engrams to lvl up crypt and maybe get legendaries from the lvling-him-up reward. I kill many mobs while farming and doing bounties etc. As long as it is not proven and I personally dont see any difference between killing enemies with 1 hit or killing lvl 24s (which takes obviously longer) I will keep on doing strikes for the finishing rewards and not to kill-farm
-
So, mind providing a link where Bungie officially states that higher level mobs, or higher level strike mobs, have a better chance at dropping Legendary Engrams? To date, Bungie has not released any sort of statement or literature indicating what you are saying is true. In fact, Bungie hasn't said anything. Stop spewing lies on the forums just because you got lucky during a strike and found a Legendary Engram. Hell, I found a Legendary engram doing the Devil's Lair on earth, so ya. What you really want to say is, "Hey guys I got lucky during a strike and got a Legendary Engram. So now instead of rushing through it, please help me clear these mobs so that I might get more Legendary Engrams. Also, I don't care why you are here, since the world revolves around me. Either play the way I want, or leave the game!"

Only Strike I skip through is Into The Nexus, once the Servitors are dead, it's a race to the last boss.

Edited by elKazaam: 10/7/2014 11:44:43 AMOHHH, yeah, I´m that guy, NOT A KID!, that left you behind at the start. I dont think that you are righz, i geht legendery engramms even when I ran through. Whats the reasonto kill every enemie, when i can and cut it out. I only need the endboss. I go for marks and play 3 games when u r play one. I hope i will play a strike with yu , hihihi.....ok a litle bit of a kid. Ps: But real, after lvl 20, there is no real reason to play this gamemode right. just run, Forest RUN!
-
Whenever someone does this I just go afk for the rest of the game, move around a bit so I don't get dropped, maybe do a little dance... Even more fun if you're in there with one friend, just let him solo the boss and the adds while you chat with eachother, maybe even shoot at the rusher just to let him know.
-
Nah man. Strikes are long enough as it is. I'm not taking the time to kill stuff I don't have to. I'm just doing the strike for marks and bounties.
-
I got plan c from racing through a strike lol. Then I force spawn everyone at the end get over it. Don't complain about matchmaking if you don't like the people!
-
It takes 17 tiger strikes to cap your marks for the week. That means farm your personal loot on your own time! No one has time for seventeen 30 min runs just because you feel you "might" get a drop.
-
People might be doing it just for the vanguard rep and currency
-
We race through because we are tired of the same old strikes we most likely completed 10 times by now.
-
Running through is faster and a more efficient use of time. "Don't hate the player, hate the game."
-
I agree. Seems most people treat it like a race. Almost as if they believe there is a time bonus or something. I just let them go. I do think it's funny though to see them rush up an die. It's almost like they went running up waving their arms screaming "SHOOT ME SHOOT ME" - lol. However, since the patch I seem to get nothing but mainly green engrams and very few blue and have had 0 legendary not counting those that show up in the mailbox (and those have turned into blues which have given me 1 strange coin and nothing but rustburner armor-I swear of I get one more piece of supposedly rare rustburner I am going to cram it down that damn cryptarchs throat). For instance, last night I did the weekly heroic strike before the re-set. In the first 2 "true to level stages" (where the enemy is actually at the level of the strike) I received 6 (SIX!!!) damn green engrams (3 a the ambush site just after the doors open and 3 at the tank). And only got 1 blue engrams that came at the final boss. I absolutely refuse to pick up any more damn green engrams. I can't do a single mission, regardless of difficulty, without getting at least 2 of those wretched things. I will go out of my way to avoid them when they pop up, with 700 pieces of sapphire wire and 200 gun parts, what the hell do I need them for?

Edited by Suntako: 10/7/2014 2:39:14 PMlvl24 tiger strike Sepiks Prime. Killed 3 gray lvl mobs near the drop in point and got ''Truth'' rocket launcher from legendary engram drop...kill everything... ...I still run to the end of most strikes anyway...
-
I'm just in it for vanguard marks.
-
I got a legendary yesterday as a reward for completing. I'd much rather do 10strikes in an hour with a chance at getting that reward.
-
This isn't true. I raced through it got a legendary engram for swarm and also got Plan C so if anything getting through faster is better
-
It's mainly to get a bounty done or to get vanguard marks quick
-
You sir are incorrect. I was running a strike two people left at the beginning so I decided to solo it. Towards the end of the strike two randoms joined and the end boss had very little health left we finished the strike and the flavor text popped up saying that the guy who had 3 kills earned a legandary and my 160 kills earned me 2 rares. I had zero drops in the actual run to get to the boss.

Edited by Rikkom: 10/7/2014 11:41:14 AMSome of us, myself included (and I'm 21), work full time and only have a few hours a day where playing doesn't interfere with sleep and work. It's just a way to get more done in a day, I'd rather not be working on my vanguard marks all week long.
-
I ran 4 tiger strikes this morning before i left for work.. i ended up with 5 blue engrams (including the finish rewards)... we killed everything and didnt blaze through running past everybody.
-
They're not after engrams, either marks or their exotic bounties.
-
Why rush through Level 24 Strikes just to kill the boss and not worry about skippable enemies? Because I'm not after Engrams. I'm after Vanguard Marks. If I get an Engram that gives me something worthwhile on the way to buying guaranteed Legendary gear, awesome. But I'm doing what's quickest for me.
-
OP just wants something to complain about
-
I am a bit confused. As far as I recall, most of the serious mobs are tied to a DinkleBot-Lock(TM) and you cant progress as long as anything is left to bite him in his shiny metal ass. So I dont see how it is possible to skip anything but trash mobs? And regardless, in the context of the game, strikes are commando raids to take out a high value target, not a major offensive to wipe out the enemy. The mathematical part seems logical on the surface, if you are going for loot per strike. But in reality the unit is loot per hour. So I am betting my own rewards on there being more loot in doing 4 fast strikes in an hour than doing 2 slow strikes in the same amount of time. I wouldn't be surprised if you kill more high level mobs too, since you will be killing twice as many waves.
