It's getting to be a common thing now during the Lvl 24 Strikes that I see these kids race as fast as they can through the Strike usually hopping on their speeder bypassing the first several mobs of lower level enemies which is fine but then they continue on and bypass as many of the Lvl 24 enemies as they can just to get to the final boss quicker.
Why? The boss gives you nothing and your chances of getting anything worthwhile from the end game roll are poor odds for the amount of time it takes to complete each Strike. Your best shot of getting a Legendary Engram drop or at least multiple blue Engrams to give you a chance at Legendary gear and to rank up the Cryptarch is to kill every Lvl 24 enemy up to the boss because that is where all of my Legendary Engrams have come from and I get at least half of my blue Engrams from Mob drops to go along with what I get in the end game roll.
The Lvl 24 Tiger Strikes since the last patch appear to have a higher drop rate than the normal game modes at least in the areas you're facing Lvl 24 enemies, and so bypassing them to finish the Strike faster is just decreasing your chance of getting multiple drops. There's little other reason to be grinding Lvl 24 Strikes in that manner because you can earn Vanguard rep faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks faster farming Public Events, and if you need a bunch of Strikes for a Bounty run the Lvl 8 Devil's Lair on Earth and get them done quick.
So don't be that guy that runs way out ahead of everyone else. Don't waste you and your teammates chances for more Legendary/Exotic drops. It doesn't take but an extra 5 minutes or so to clear out all the Lvl 24 enemies your bypassing between you and the Boss when you do it as a group.

How fast you do it has no bearing on what you get at the end. By not killing every single enemy, you might not get blue engrams, but other than that, it doesnt matter

I can understand that you are upset. Yet I think that there are reasons that some people speed run strikes. For instance, exotic bounties such as the one for bad juju require that you need to complete 26 strikes. That's a lot of time wasted for people who are going through that. (Its also better than having people afk and leech your strike missions). One solution is to get a group of friends who enjoy taking their time and having fun as opposed to random matchmaking if you want to avoid speed runners.

"I'm reporting you for quickly getting strike rewards, you're supposed to help me kill low level guys" - OP It's a strike, not a mission to kill the lower levels. If you want to kill them for engrams, go right ahead the drop rate is decreased bro. I'll be waiting at the end attacking the boss
-
Speed ran 10 strikes the other night. Less that an hour and a half, 2 legendary engram's and about 30 blues (including the ones from upgrading cryptarch rank). So...
-
good to know, I never knew that the drop rates where increased. I will definitely stop racing through the strikes, thanks for the info. SPREAD THE WORD PEOPLE!!
-
Dear guy who doesn't know what rng stands for.... rng is rng no matter what you do or how fast you go..... not everyone wants to spend 45 minutes completing a strike that takes 5 minutes to complete..... go back to call of booty you sound like a straight crying ass noob.
-
I rush though em because I'm either completing a bounty, or doing a playlist for the marks. I could care less about the drops but I end up getting a lot, anyway.
-
Edited by Knuxr: 10/6/2014 1:00:08 AMYou're more than welcome to play it how you want, as am I. RNG is RNG, I will have the same chances to get a legendary off of a level 2 as a 24.
-
Edited by Britton: 10/6/2014 12:08:29 AMI speed run it for marks and rep
-
I just leave when I see people skipping enemies lol.
-
What you say makes sense regarding the high-level enemies which is why I rush through the low-level trash because it doesn't make sense to me that a Lv8 would drop an engram that can yield a Lv20 item... Is that truly the case? 😮
-
Don't be that guy. Don't waste your time.
Lol guy has some nerve to say that and complain that "people" (not everyone is a kid on Destiny pal) run through strikes. What are you expecting people to do? Fight enemies that are truly not apart of the strike?
-
Dude, that's what farming is for. I play through the Strikes because I'm guaranteed a Rare Engram as a reward, with the chance of getting even better. If I wanted to sit around shooting enemies, I would go farm instead of doing a Strike...
-
Agreed
-
And this is Why we need to be able to use our mics in public. Or even just keyboard.
-
lol if you guys are doing strikes for a bounty then do the lv 8 devils lair
-
1. The drop rates are terrible. 2. Legendaries can be given from the End Roll. 3. Blues from the end roll = Cryptarch XP. 4, Cryptarch XP has a better chance of a legendary. 5. Why waste time on enemies that don't matter? 6. Faster runs mean more you can do in an hour, so more Vanguard XP. 7. All of that combined makes doing a quick strike run better than a long and drawn out one since you will have to do the strike multiple times since the game lacks substance and only has a handful of unique activities.
-
Don't be that guy and waste the other two players time. You're in a group for a common goal to kill the boss at the end. If you don't like it go farm on a planet alone. Don't be an asshole and hold others up because you feel the need to smell the roses. Btw I'm not one of those so called kids you talk about I have my own house and a job and pay my own bills. And just so you know I have 3 guardians that I try to cap vanguard every week on. So I can give a shit weather or not you get a damn Blue drop. Cause at the end of the week I have enough to buy legendary items from my vanguard vendor and shard them and even possibly rank up from running them fast enough to get rep. So lead, follow or get the hell out of my way and take you bitching somewhere else you selfish self centered prick.
-
I bypass any enemy not part of the strike, i.e. the beginning of Devils lair. I'm not fighting through the rocket yard. Once we enter the building though, every enemy must die. I see people even leave the shanks and captain in the middle after taking down the devil walker. Not me, those -blam!-ers die too.
-
That's matchmaking for you. There's nothing that can be done about it. If you want to slowly go through a Strike and kill everything in between the beginning and the boss, then join a clan or do it with friends that agree to also kill everything with you. I'm never the person that will run forward and skip all mobs, but if 1 person does it, then I'll just follow. Why? Because: 1) I can't tell them to slow down. If I want to communicate then I gotta add them to my Friend List, and I don't feel like filling up with friendlist with tons of random people. 2) If I don't follow and they die, they're probably just going to leave the Strike group and ruin the whole run. So why not just go with the flow and finish the thing for the reward at the end. 3) The sooner I finish the Strike, the more quickly I can start another one. In the end, it's not that bad to rush to the end and skip all mobs. The OP has a point and killing mobs does increase the chances at more loot, but you can end up getting as many on your next Strike run. Not everyone rushes through all mobs. Half the time I'll get a group that does kill everything, while the other half of the time I'll get 1 person that rushes through. That's the price to pay if I use the Matchmaking system! If you don't want people rushing, join a clan and make friends. /thread

It is in fact -5x faster to farm patrols for strikes and almost 4x slower to farm public events. Patrols net 0 marks. Pubs net 2-3 marks. An average strike on tiger (6 marks) takes 10 to 15 minutes public events spawn every 35-45 minutes
-
Because the faster you get the mission done, the more you can do and the more xp you get
-
Some people already have the things they want and just want the marks
-
If you insist on making the strike longer than 10 minutes you're wasting my time >_>
-
I had no idea that the lower level enemies had an increased engram drop rate! I thought that only the strike enemies did! Thank you for the heads up!
