Hai.
I'm a 22 year old male and I have started to gain weight for the first time in my life. I used to exercise quite regularly - I was a cross-country and track runner in high school and maintained my regiment throughout the first two years of college. But last year, my work load increased and I began to slack off on exercising. Over the course of a few months, I went from running at least a mile every day to not running at all.
It's been over a year since that happened. Yesterday for a lab class, we had to weigh ourselves, and I noticed that I now weigh 158 pounds. That might not sound like too much for a guy my age, but I used to hover around 140 when I still exercised. I have (mild) fat deposits in my abdomen and I get tired easily from physical exertion.
So I come to you, the worst imaginable target audience for this problem, for advice on how to fix this problem. I know I need to start exercising again - but where do I begin?
Diet-wise, I eat a pretty healthy diet low in red meat and high in green vegetables, fish, beans, nuts, and rice. I don't eat much fast food, although I'm a college student so I generally have one or two really shitty meals per week. (Things like nachos, pizza, or the death trio of burgers, fries, and milkshakes.) It's the lack of exercise that has done this to me.
tl;dr - I'm getting fat. What do, Flood?
