I've just hit the level cap with my first class (titan) and have finished the tutorial with a warlock. These are my early impressions and thoughts about the beta.
Good
>>Sheer size of old Russia makes me look forward to going to Venus, Mars etc
>>I was worried that it would be too overcrowded. Allot of MMO's suffer from this with people camping out around key points and I'm happy to say that it could easily be played as a single player game.
>>The classes are varied enough to make it exciting to play a different class.
>>All classes can use all weapons.
>>Character customisation is great and allot more in depth than I thought it would be.
>>The strike mission is massive and a real challenge. Luckily I had two good players with me that understood how to approach each of the bosses. Even though we spent most of the time dead or dying lol
>>The bonus contracts at the tower means you can farm XP really quickly.
Bad
>>The campaign missions all feel the same, fight through a corridor, fight through an open area, fight a boss, rinse, repeat. The story seems like it will be really good and i hope the future missions don't follow this formula. Sure their are exceptions like when the ghost has to hack a door/drone/hunk of metal which you have to defend against numerous waves, but I don't feel they are frequent enough.
>>The guardian tower is under used. You arrive, look at the traveller, change some blueprints into gear and then leave. There are allot of locked doors and is just generally not that interesting.
>>The level cap is too low. Iv hit it in 3 and abit hours but with my next guardian it will be far easier because I know the objectives on each mission, enemy location etc.
Hopes for the retail game
>>Varied missions.
>> The crucible UI needs improving. Allowing you to pick matches or clan wars would be a welcome addition.
Things I know won't happen but really want
>> I have a ship, let me fly it. At the minute it works like in mass effect where you have no control over the ship. If this is a next gen game I want to be able to shoot down enemy ships. Finger crossed it happens in Destiny 2.
Conclusion
Even with the negative points above I LOVE this game. It has the shooting mechanics of halo with the scope of Mass Effect (ive put 300+ hours into that series)and I can't wait for September :)
