Delta Halo is one of my all time favorite Halo campaign levels due to specific reasons. The whole entire outside of the map can be explored easily and there's no invisible walls until you get to the very edge of the level where the ground texture ends.
I took some pictures of the places you can go to:
On top of the tallest mountain, overlooking the lake. The game couldn't render the part of the mountains behind the main temple because I was too far.
On the other side of the lake in the beginning of the level. There's nothing all that interesting out here other than a great view of the starting area of the level.
On top of the 2nd tallest mountain. You can see the entire level from up here with the exception of the ruins part. You can see everything from up here with no render issues.
Staring death straight in the eye. Delta Halo is notorious for its Jackal snipers in a lot of areas.
This makes me wonder. Its just a random open square on the cliffs above the ruins. I have no idea if it goes down to the water or to the level. I didn't go down.
Up close to the first temple. Obviously you're not supposed to be this close without going through the level the proper way so it can load the textures. Still pretty funny to look at.
Infamous "Trigate" under the lake. Its said that the golden Warthog is behind it.
At the very bottom of the lake.
Directly under the main temple. Looks like a Scarab with 6 legs.
On the mountains behind the main temple. As you can see on the left, the mountains are struggling to render in to frame because I am so far away from everything else.
This is the most interesting picture. There appears to be water behind the mountains towards the Sentinel Wall. If you look closely you can see water ripples in the scope. However due to an invisible wall you can't get to it. This is the first time I've see that there.
I'm hoping in the MCC they add more life to the outside part of this level. It seems a waste to have all that land but nothing on it or anything to interact with. I'm sure they will do something to keep map explorers like myself interested.

Breaking out of Halo maps was the most fun I've ever had in gaming. Then Reach and 4 happened.
-
I remember spending hours exploring the rooftops on outskirts.
-
Pretty sure the rendering issues will be fixed.
-
I wonder if they will add some new easter eggs in the campaign in some of theses spots.

Edited by spartan 11811: 6/15/2014 2:42:28 AMGetting outside the maps was one of the best things in Halo 2, me and my brother spent hours exploring every level. We even managed to get into the control room on Uprising once. And I remember that open square leads down to that place by the waterfall where the chapter "off the rock, through the bush, nothing but Jackal" starts.

If so... -What's happening with out of bounds exploration in Halo 2? Any special treats for those climbing the mountains of Delta Halo? -What about the original skulls?
Frankie:
Don't look for much that wasn't there originally and assume 16:9 has more impact than you'd assume. I remember ALL of this. I loved exploring Halo 2's maps.
-
It looks a lot like Delta Halo in real life if you drive through the northern entrance of the Grand Tetons from Yellowstone and drive by the lake (mountains in the background as well)
-
Exploring Halo 2 missions was the best. I always got a Banshee and flew around Metropolis flying around all the buildings.

with the advent of the MCC i feel like some of these guys should get a lot more popularity around here. ungrumpy1 has pretty much beaten the sh1t out of every inch of the halo 2 campaign. zealotsg's also a master trickster in every halo game [and while he prefers h2 i like his work in CE more (ai collections aside)] and then slYnki, who is the god of halo ce campaign tricksters. and let's cap off with the guy who's basically the neo of halo ce players. just give their channels a look and you should see some really cool stuff.

Exploring is gonna be so damn fun with the online co-op. AND it's gonna be dedicated servers so the connection issues will be mostly solved.

Edited by Elrond Hubbard: 6/15/2014 3:00:46 AMdo you even landscape mode JK nice, I've always loved that Halo 2 let you explore so much of the world.

Mystery of the Gate: Experience the biggest wild goose chase prior to the Secret of Sandtrap remastered in HD!
-
Imagine how good the views will be in the MCC
-
I don't know what bothers me the most, the fact that we have the exact same TV or the exact same posters. Either way, your setup looks identical to mine.
-
Neat.
-
That's pretty awesome
-
Hopefully they make the Trigate into something.

I didn't even know you can go that far whenever I explored, I thought you can only go within the level, like on top of the ruins or something if only i still had halo 2 pc or my 360 stopped being a dick
