My dad was my big influence. He always had a cool car, or something unique when I was growing up. I was always around cars. We went to a lot of shows, and other events. My dad's has had about 100 cars in his life and most of them were cool in some way. My favorite was his 1970 Cutlass, which looks very similar to the one in this picture. My dad got me into cars, what got you into them?

My best friend growing up had an unhealthy obsession with Corvettes. We used to try and guess the year of them just by body style. As we grew, we started playing games where we would try to tell the make or model of a car from a distance as it drove up our street. He sort of stopped with his petrolheadedness in Junior High, but I actually ramped mine up at that time. I became obsessed with concept cars, super cars and whatever weird thing was coming down the pipe. Now it's a love and admiration for the amazing tech and people involved in producing and designing them.

Edited by Cobravert: 4/9/2014 3:17:57 PMHonestly I don't know. This morning in taking my son to school, I had to stop at a 4-way intersection. As I took off from it, we passed a couple of kids that were on the sidewalk making their way to the elementary school. One was a girl, probably 10, and a boy, probably 7. The boy heard my car as we left the 4-way, stopped, turned, and stared. As we got closer to him you could see the 'look' on his face that a car guy has when the right type of car crosses their path. He is a future car guy. I guess that's the way it was for me too. It was just the thing I gravitated toward at a young age. In 1969 I saw a brand new, red Mustang Mach I sitting in the church parking lot. After church I HAD to go look at it. I didn't know why, I just HAD to. It's been that way ever since. My Dad was very mechanical, but he never had a muscle or sports car, so I didn't get it from him really. But he did teach me how to work on engines. Through my own reading and comprehending I expounded on the mechanical understanding and when he had me rebuild his truck engines, I made them meaner.

Edited by Gatsby: 4/9/2014 2:28:15 PMNothing, I've always loved cars even as a young child.

My dad has a C3 Stingray, so naturally I've always been into Vettes What really got me into cars though was NFS Underground lol, and my obsession grew from there

Same with you, OP. My dad formed my love for cars pretty early on. I remember my dad owning a white XJ6 when I was growing up, that thing was awesome!

Edited by DesticleStomper6: 4/9/2014 3:27:22 AMI had a childish interest when I was a child if you will. I saw the fast and furious movies, and played need for speed and the midnight club video games. I had an interest in such cars but never got into it as to open up the hood and tell what's what and stuff I just mostly looked at "sporty" cars and thought man that looks awesome wish I had that car for myself. Never got much deeper into other than wanting to drive or race a fast/nice looking car. Then a couple of years through my teens went where I pretty much lost interest and got into other things.. But then, just last year, I got my first car for a birthday present. I was excited to have the car that I got. I was eager to drive it. Eager to drive it around and have people notice. Soon I began to become curious about how everything worked under the hood and what not. I needed to since the car needed some money put into it. I also took notice of people who modified they're own rides and became curious of learning what and why they did that and thought of doing that to a car of my own (not the one I currently own). I began to apply this newfound knowledge and interest to other cars besides my own. I'm still learning about stuff here and there but my knowledge of these machines have greatly improved since before I got my first car. And there you go. My interest was always there rooted in my childhood. It just needed to be reawakened.

My father. He was a mechanic. His passion for cars was beautiful. My husband, however, has a huge impact on my liking of vehicles now.

The car door.

Lived with a friend who worked on cars. He did a lot with his Impala (which led me to absolutely hate them). I got an old beat up truck and have been slowly working on it since, which has certainly been fun and is my passion.

Fast and Furious movies.

Need For Speed and Fast and Furious but it's not a great interest just a usual interest

Usually I try to open the door first before I get in. Then I lift up one foot and place it in and then proceed to get into the car.

Edited by DAS B00T x2: 4/9/2014 1:11:55 AMUsed to watch those three guys on TV all the time as a kid. There's also my one grandfather, who's been a mechanic all his life and did a beautiful restoration on a 69 Camaro. I suppose my natural curiosity of machines and wanting always take things apart helped too. Racing games were and probably still are some of my favorites, be it arcade or sim. Then there's the aesthetics, and I'll stop there before I go on a tangent about architecture.

Well, apparently I always was in to trucks and tractors. Then my dad got his 2003 black Mustang V6. I thought it was the coolest car when I was in elementary school. Then things just went from there. Now, I have my own 2003 Mustang. So it's kind of funny to see how things turned out.
