Finland's second biggest badass (after Simo Häyhä, the sniper who killed 505 enemy soldiers and survived a rifle shot to the head). He is the only Finnish person, and probably only person to serve in 3 different Armies. And not like the Finnish, Swedish, and then Norwegian Armies. He served in the Finnish Army, and he was the recruited into the Waffen-SS, and he then escaped a British PoW camp only to be jailed for treason.
On his release, he ended up joining the US Army of all armies! He soon joined the US Special Forces and was sent on numerous special forces missions. Unfortunately, he was on a helicopter which crashed in Vietnam and he disappeared. However, the crash site was never found and neither has his body, but he assumed to be KIA. He ended his career (and presumably his life) at the rank of major.
To think that somebody who was in the SS would even escape prosecution in America, let alone become a Commissioned Officer in their Army. Absolutely incredible. At least Finland has produced their fair share of complete badasses.
