Well, that was unexpected, even to myself.
After thinking about it for a long, long time, I've decided that what I originally feared would be the worst possible thing to happen in Man of Steel 2 may end up actually being the best. Dahuterschuter and ROBERTO jh have convinced me, along with the impartiality shown by David Goyer, and the continued respect of Superman Zack Snyder demonstrates, that Batman/Superman would be the best course of action for DC to take at this point.
I want a human to bring Superman down to Earth, so to speak. Right now Supes is young, and he thinks that he's got his own terms that everyone else lives by. An old, grizzled Batman beating him to the ground would be the best possible method of him learning his place- showing that he's not the all powerful man he thought he was.
But I also want Superman to beat Batman, or at least upstage him somehow in the latter acts. I want Superman to show Batman that he isn't just some alien who's come down here to do cause destruction. I want Supes to show Bats how, even while being young and inexperienced, his ideals are what sets him above Bats- that Batman's ideals aren't necessarily the best. Perhaps Superman will show Batman that fighting for what's right is preferable to fighting against what's wrong, and then we'll have the early beginnings of our Justice League- not just a bunch of superheroes fighting villains, but a bunch of heroes all keeping each other in check using their own ideologies. And at the center of it all, we have the god and the human, working with new respect for each other.
And above all, it's the goddamn Batman with motherf*cking Superman. I know what line I'll be standing for in 2015.
So yeah. Thoughts?
