So, this guy was running tours of N Korea as a front for spreading the word of God.
He was captured and sentenced to 15 years of hard labor for attempting to subvert the government of North Korea via religion.
What are your thoughts on this? He is an American citizen, being held in N Korea, and will likely be staying there for 15 years, until he dies, or until the diplomats can secure his release.
Now, to play the devil's advocate, how do we feel when people come to our country trying to spread their religion and religious laws? While we don't jail them, don't we still persecute them?

To play the "devils advocate" he went over their and broke their laws. He is liable. Like if someone goes over here and breaks our laws, but claims they're doing it under shariah law (example) it's still illegal and they're persecuted.
