Since August 2012 Guild Wars 2 has become the best MMORPG around and blows WoW out the water.
Arena.net has been doing constant updates and every month they add new story lines which change the world while adding new items and locations and some 1 time things or some that permanently change the world.
A more refined Skill system based on weapons and off-hand items and profession, level scaling so a level 80 can still get killed in a level 5 area if they are not careful. Underwater combat, massive PvP battles with 3 servers fighting against each other and the skills used in PvE are the same in World v World.
Customizations are plentiful ranging from character looks, to story and weapons/armour, a massive crafting system and different ways/currencies to earn different items in game.
Also no subscription fee, and WoW now has 7.7million subscribers down from 12million.

Never tried Guild Wars 2, did a little WoW but gave that up for Xbox Live.

IMO GW2 really is better...but that won't last for long. Because uh...EverQuest Next looks freaking amazing.

Sorry but all I'm seeing here is a thread deliberately made to annoy anyone who prefers WoW. On the other hand I do prefer GW2 but I do enjoy WoW as it has a more 'casual' feel. Guild Wars 2 feels closer to a hardcore game to me with a much larger emphasis on player skill rather than gear. The PvP IS much more difficult and can be fun but due to the easy drop in and drop out of the pvp maps a lot of the time the pvp maps are empty, have no co-operation between players whatsoever and are downright boring. In WoW the pvp maps are simple, small (relative to GW2) and usually a lot of fun and can be enjoyed with a lot of teams that you go into them with. You don't need to have a large organised guild group to have fun taking part in massive battles in WoW whereas in GW2 most of the time you need to have an organised guild group or groups between guilds in order to enjoy the map to its fullest. Not much I can say in terms of the customization, GW2's customization is indeed much than the customization in WoW. Although talking about getting killed in a level 5 area if they're not careful can still apply in WoW in some cases such as guards attacking players who go into the opposing factions zone or other high level players flying around, the risk is still there. Just not in the form of the mobs that roam around. Yes, GW2 has more areas but that's because they've been doing the game differently, in WoW they can't change or add to the areas that were given in DLC for some reason. Probably due to some consumer bullshit. I don't know the details of that but GW2 doesn't have DLC so it can change, add to and basically do whatever else to its areas with no repercussions (except maybe some players wont like the changes but that's a given). As for the subscription fees I think that's being kept out due to the in-game shop GW2 has where you can buy those coins or gems that can give you access to special items within the shop. Either cosmetic items or stuff to do with crafting. I haven't really looked at the shop all too much but this probably provides a steady source of income from players which in turn contributes to keeping the subscription fees at bay. And finally, the skill system. Yes, Guild War 2s skill system is superior to WoW's in every way in my opinion due to the choices you can make with weapons and all the different combinations you can do with your skills and weapons. Wow's skill and weapon system has been dumbed down greatly over the last few years and now just gives the players easy to make, obvious choices in skills that don't give you much choice if you want to be able to do well with your class and specialization.

While I find Guild Wars 2 combat to be a lot more rewarding, its questing system, or lack thereof is what ruins the experience for me. It was a novel idea but poorly executed.

Blizzard needs to make a WoW 2, that game is almost 10 years old.

Lets face it, what ArenaNet has created is pretty damn impressive. What they are continuing to do(updates upon updates) is even more impressive.
