And yet that theory and perspective is so over done its old. I am not disagreeing with you on the grittiness and darkness etc. but only have it where it is appropriate and applicable. For so long the entertainment industry has associated a post apocalypic world with darkness and grittiness and having the fight for survival. That's all great and and its very realistic. However, most times the entertainment industry focuses on these things, they fail to include the bright spots of the world. In Destiny, humans are not only surviving, but they are thriving. We are beyond the dark days of facing day-to-day extinction and instead of attempting to take back what was once ours. Yes, there are threats, but this war isn't as much about the battle to avoid extinction so much as it is about reclaiming the lost Golden Age of humanity. We have already won the war against extinction, now we are branching out of the City and reclaiming our solar system from "outsiders." So again, I will say that the dark gritty "realism" that both you and the OP are wanting doesn't quite fit into the design that Bungie is trying to portray in Destiny.
Also, I said why bring up ratings when I said nothing about them. Then I also said that I agreed with you about the M rating. So ratings obviously have nothing to do with our conversation here.
