Paula Deen said that she might have said the n-word in the past and people -blam!-ing flip their shit and she got fired and crap. But people that have crazy homophobic rants that explicitly hate gays don't get nearly as much crap or lose their jobs. Think about Ender Gamers and Orson Scott who is a giant homophobe but people don't care.

You aren't gay? You're a homophobe. You don't worship the black race? You're a racist.
-
It's not. Paula Deen wasn't fired for being racist, she was fired for being racist in a socially unacceptable way.

Stop with the threads on gays

Am I Homophobic is I support Gay Marriage and would sign any petition or bill to support it, but I don't want to go to a Gay Wedding? I mean, I don't enjoy weddings in the first place, but the thought of a Gay Weddings turns me off from going even more. Like I said though, if two men want to get married or whatever, just leave me out of it and I'll support it. I asked this earlier but it dissolved into a tangent.

Think about the history of gay people in the US and the history of black people in the US. Both are bad, but I know which is more shocking.
-
It's not.
One is discriminating skin color, one is discriminating preference.
-
I'll never understand why people care so much about shit like this.
-
"Oh look, something completely irrelevant happened! Now's my chance to support gays!"
-
because black people are good and gay people are bad obviously
-
It's bad to be either of them in my opinion.

A lot of people involved in the entertainment industry are gay. Nobody cares because those people make quality entertainment. I dont give two shits if Orson Scott is gay, Enders game is a great book, and it might make a great movie. As for racism, racism hasn't been aloud for the past 25 years. Ever since the democrats took over, people can get fired for not being "politically correct." Because of the democrats/liberals, you cant say black guy, or -blam!-, you have to say "African American." (even though not all blacks are African) Its a bunch of BS, but it might not change any time soon.

Edited by Gaara444: 6/28/2013 12:35:53 AM>Paula Deen gets fired for using the "N" word >They start revving up Food Network Star shows like crazy >All their new star shows suck ass >Can't cook for shit >They've had 11 winners but only two of them are still on air Jesus Christ Food Network. Just apologize to Paula Deen for firing her and put her back on their air, she's your bread and butter.

Probably because racism directs itself towards an entire race, including gays, straights... all of the people.
-
As long as you don't negatively affect others why is either of those bad?
-
I treat both equally awful
-
Because there are more black people than gay people.
-
Mostly because of the order in which their movements happened. One is practically over, and only remnants remain, while the other is a fight still currently going on.
-
Because there's a lot more people of different races then there are gay people.

Edited by BasementDoor: 6/27/2013 5:05:38 PMI think hating someone who is gay is wrong and I am a Christian. But I feel like Racism is worse.

In my book the two are the same. In society's eyes, however, there is still some acceptance that Gays are deviant and inferior. Basically, more people are there to get upset about racism, since homophobia is kinda accepted.
-
Racism offends a larger group? I'm not sure.
-
They're both equally stupid, ignorant, childish, and wrong, but society doesn't yet see them that way. Racism became very unpopular only around the 60's. Blacks have been struggling for equal rights, however, since the 1800s. That's a lot of time for society to get used to the idea of black people having the same rights, and black people being the same as any other race. In contrast, gays have only really been in the spotlight since somewhere in the 70's. A lot more ground has been covered faster than was covered for black people for gays, but they still aren't quite at the level of acceptance that black people are at. Since there are many more homophobes than racists right now, it is seen as much less of a bad thing to be homophobic.
-
Well the way i see it, black people chose their race!... On a serious note they are both equally bad.
-
because homophobia hasn't become a devil-tier taboo yet like racism has.
