So, as I senior in high school I've been asked this question quite a bit lately. It is, at least to me, probably the most irritating question ever. The reason why I think this? Well, click the spoiler tag and read my response to the question.
"if things would continue as they are I have no clue where I could end up in ten years. The world changes quickly and much can happen in a mere ten years. I try to not picture the realistic future because of this; I do not see a reason to wonder what ten years from now will be like when we cannot even tell what tomorrow will bring. You can never really control what happens in the world; you really only control how you react to it and what you can make out of it. In the end you probably will not get exactly what you wanted, but you can make the best of what each day gives to you, and to me this is the better future."
This is just what I think. I'm wondering what you people think of this type of question and what your answer is.

As a high school senior, I always get asked about future plans and what college I am going to. I think I know what my career goal is, but other than that, I have no idea.
-
Say something like "I see myself with a great job, my own house, maybe married with kids" etc
-
I don't know, probably settled down with kids, I'll most likely still be racing like I am now... It all depends on my luck.

Alive; most likely alive.

I kind of like those questions, because the future is something I think about pretty regularly. I'll be transferring from community college to a university soon, so it's kind of a transitional period. We have family/friends who are successful and knowledgeable, and I like bouncing some of my goals/hopes off of them. I like having a direction, and thinking about the future helps me figure out what I want from life.

I hate the question. I've only had a small amount of control over my life for a few years, how am i supposed to know where the first ten years of my life as a free adult will play out? That said, you can easily BS the question. Say graduated from X college with a degree in Y and hopefully working as a Z. Throw in details like where you'd ideally live and if you'd have a family. It's pretty easy to fake it for college essays and stuff.
