Edited by Dragon029: 1/22/2013 4:05:17 PMAnd to add to the examples, in Red Orchestra 2, you cycle magazines; so if you have 5 magazines and: You use 3 completely. #4 is half full #5 is 1/4 full then when you reload with 1/4 of #5, your character pulls out #4 and you have half a magazine left. If you don't shoot, but reload again, you have #5 and it's 1/4 of a magazine. Pretty awesome game.

Im RO:2 if the rifle you're using is reloaded via the top of the magazine by pulling the bolt back, then when you go to reload it will eject the cartridge that was chambered (if there was one). Basically, if you're using a bolt gun, and you fire a shot, work the bolt, decide to reload, you will put 2 new cartridges into the magazine not one, because you ejected a good round by opening the bolt.

Kind of like how you always cock a gun even if it still has a round in it.

To add to the torrent of replies: also Operation Flashpoint has you discard the mag.

Let's not forget Socom.

Forgive me for not knowing of those games, ">every shooter ever" was more or less a slight exaggeration. Just pretend I said ">99% of every shooter ever"

Battlefield 2.
-
You discard the entire mag in Far Cry 3.
-
Not with Tediore, sort of, kind of, maybe a little.
-
Except Halo CE splitscreen. You actually discard the entire mag when reloading.
-
Except Battlefield 2. If there was still ammunition left in the magazine when you reloaded it was discarded, so you really had to think about reloading. If you still had half a magazine you generally wanted to save it.

Hardcore battlefield 4 is like that too. I believe you don't get to see your bullet/mag count either
