It seems like every time I hear more about this new system, it's just straight up offering less content. For example, this new raid and dungeon change means they're halving the new content we get and are just gonna make us play the same stuff we've been playing.
The episodic model has done nothing to elevate the content drought issues that's plagued the game and I doubt the new system will do anything either. Very frustrating to see this when other games with smaller studios and less resources are doing more. We'll just have to see I guess

100% agree. Before we had 4 seasons, each with: 5 new seasonal red border weapons and reprised weapons 2 new vanguard/nightfall/crucible/IB/trials/gambit weapons A handful of world drop weapons 1 new raid one season, a new dungeon the next season, usually a reprised raid the next season, then a new dungeon the season after that. All with new guns. 1 new seasonal exotic 1 new exotic mission/weapon per season Now we have THREE episodes that were SUPPOSED to have better, more meaningful content (just like their frontiers promises) but so far it's been more of the same only with more timegating and the last 3 weeks of "story" consisting of "repeat the same mission over and over again each week." They promised innovation with this episodic model, but gave us the same old sh!t, only less content and less loot. They did increase the seasonal weapons to 10 per episode so that at least means the same amount of seasonal/reprised weapons as before. But we're already getting less vanguard/nightfall/trials etc guns and 1 less ritual weapon, as well as world drop weapons, 1 less seasonal exotic, 1 less exotic mission etc etc. We're also getting less raid/dungeon weapons as we only have 3 episodes. Things are already getting stale, 4 months is too long between new seasonal content but now they're trying to sell us on SIX months between any new story content or meaningful loot. It's the same amount of work and "thought" that went into 3 months per season 4 times a year, but now they're doing it 3 times a year - effectively cutting the amount of actual work/money over the entire year. But now with frontiers it's basically just 2 really big seasons. In their little roadmap diagram it shows the second "content update" just consisting of new activities and artifact mods, etc - zero mention of new weapons. Not to mention only one new raid and one new dungeon. So we're essentially getting only half the content at the same price. Frontiers is a scam. They're trying to maximize their profits by cutting the amount of content and selling it as "innovation." This is their response to losing players and revenue by cutting the amount of time/energy/work they put into the content they make. Less dungeons/raids, less exotic missions, less everything. We play this game for the loot, afterall. Guaranteed the year pass will cost the same as TFS/lightfall/witch queen etc but in the end will have less than half the content and loot as those expansions did. This is the beginning of the end.

Less content. Higher price. What do those laughing joking numbnuts at bungie do all day? They barely produce any product!
-
because it literally is.
-
I do not mind less content. It is expected now that Bungie has a smaller staff. However, this news today about more hostile enemies have me questioning whether or not to continue playing. Make the game more difficult when players are leaving? That makes no sense.
-
They should stop wasting time on raids. Nobody plays them anyway
-
Edited by Wolves: 9/26/2024 7:47:55 PMI wouldn't expect much more from Bungie now.
-
It seems like this community doesn’t know Bungie. Expect less, you won’t be disappointed when it drops 😉
-
Destiny has been pushing less content for more money since Forsaken
-
It sounds about on par with what we’ve got right now. Maybe slightly less seasonal content type stuff, but endgame stuff looks to be getting a little more. Not amazing and not exactly what I wanted to hear, but not bad.
-
Dang, it hasn't even dropped, and we are already at this point? It's content for free, which kinda lessens the blow of the monetization since that's the only way they can make money (see warframe if you have been living under the destint rock for the last decade). Do you want to "buy to play" with the possibility of more content only to be robbed like we have been for the longest or do the fremium model like they are adopting now? Them getting rid of dungeon keys already answers that question, but dang, the allegations about the destint community are about as bad as bungies management of the game.
-
The entire Destiny team is hard at work brainstorming ways to get us to run the junk that already exists and we’ve been bored of for years by tweaking it slightly. Anything to avoid making content, holy -blam!-. I sure hope for their sake Marathon is a huge hit because the business model of neglecting the active game doesn’t seem to be improving anything.
-
Well there’s way less employees so yeah of course there’s “less”. We will just have to wait and see what it all looks like. Right now I honestly don’t know what to expect and am not gonna have high expectations either
-
It really sounds like next year gonna suck they talked about spicing up enemies by having them launch fire balls and do different things.
-
My favorite part was the new 'Menu' ..😂😂😂 Trying to pass that off as new content..

Edited by The Hermit IX: 9/26/2024 4:36:36 AMI think they need to restructure how they release content at this point. Theres zero chance we will ever get a DLC the size of FS again in a 7 year old game. With that said, if they’re sticking to strict drops at the one year mark instead of 16-18 months, then we are actually getting more in the long run. Instead of 2 new raids over 3 years, we would get 3. So net gains over time with certain things. I think most of the ideas about structuring difficulty to be a choice is a good move. I like the rework on the enemy AI. Weapons and armor are receiving upgrades which is smart. A lot of the ideas are very different from what we are used to but I like seeing the game evolve. It comes down to how they execute the changes but I think it’s awesome that Tyson has the sack to shake things up and create the game in his vision while he’s the director.
-
Hey now. Do you realize how many gallons of paint they had to consume to come with this? They robbed Pete of one whole car.
-
Game is done - none of this matters. Sales if that expansion are going to be almost non existent.
-
They said a couple weeks back less content would be coming out.
-
.... Gummy Bears!!!
-
List all the content in Destiny right now. It’s bloated with content.
-
It is all about end-game elite players. No need for the 3 hour a week casual.
-
I don't see how two expansions a year is less content, but we'll see.
-
Support the other studios, Bungie’s been doing this for years.
-
Well the dev team is splintered compared to what it used to be so there will obviously be less total content overall. It is not a matter of necessarily trying to make less it's that they can't feasibly make more. Though with the less that they make it could be of higher quality.
-
Depends on how much it is.

If this was the evolution from D1 to D2 vanilla, I'd be excited, but it wasn't. D2 has been a letdown for the longest time already. These changes needed to be introduced a lot sooner
