I’ve heard and seen pretty much nothing about this game, so everything was a complete surprise to me at first, as it should be. The only thing I have heard is that it’s the worst SoulsBorne game in the franchise. I can see why people think that, but I don’t think it’s as bad as some people let on.
For starters, I think the instant fast travel system is already a massive improvement to the first game. So much of it is accessible from the beginning. I also love the exploration that the game has to offer. Almost every area is unique and interesting with their own aesthetics and gimmicks.
One thing I don’t like is the new Estus system. In DS1, you could heal quickly, but you’d still have to be careful when you do it. DS2 is much less forgiving since it takes 3 seconds to actually heal and longer for your health to regen. The bosses so far are kinda bland too. They’re super easy, which isn’t a complaint from me, but they all have the exact same gimmicks. A swipe, a leap, and maybe a grab. The only few bosses that I actually remember are the Last Giant, Executioners Chariot and the Squalid Queen, the last of which I utterly despise.
I hate the Drangon’s Sanctuary and the Squalid Queen. I really do. I know it’s DLC, but I still hate it. I’m running a Cleric with an emphasis on lightning attacks and I can barely do anything to Sinh.
Anyways, I’m pretty sure I’m almost done with the game already. I’ve beaten the Demon of Song and entered the Undead Crypt where Vendrick is supposed to be. I’ll post again once I do.
