I honestly don’t think blue gear is bad. I just recently got destiny 2 not too long ago, I would say a month or so, but honestly blue gear is what got me close to max level. Having it boost my light lvl higher and higher so I can get better and better gear. If you think about it, it’s good for game design. It shows the contrast between white gear to green, and then green to blue, and so on and so forth. Not only in feel but how much it drops. Blue drop more then legendary which gives it that contrast, but it’s the same with exotics, I think if you didn’t have the contrast it wouldn’t feel as good. Honestly, it feels good once you get legendary or exotic your first time around.
Now I see where most of the complaints come from is end game users, and I get it, you don’t want to have blue gear clogging up the postmaster, I hate it too. I think they definitely should have an option for dismantling blues, so once you feel comfortable at max level you don’t need to worry about it losing possibly good gear. The thing is beyond light is going to come out.
Which means blue gear is going to better than Legendary gear and so it will be easier to lvl up again. I get it that it doesn’t have as good roles as legendary, but beside sun setting effecting mostly pve and few pvp modes, I don’t really see it as a problem, cause if you want to switch to crucible you put on you highly stated gear, from whatever season.
Again I get it from an endgame user how this is really annoying, but from a beginner’s standpoint I think it good for the game. I definitely think that they should have an option for it, but honestly I been doing pretty well without it.
If I did get something wrong please let me know, cause I am still pretty new to the game, but besides this is my opinion on the blue gear topic

I don’t think blues are bad, it’s just that legendaries are so much better and can get better perks that overshadow blues and make them seem basic
