How to beat Burning Maul 100% of the time:
1. Jump
2. You win
How could this possibly have happened? What was bungie thinking when they "buffed" maul?
There is no reason to use the light attack ever. EVER. It doesn't kill non-super guardians in 1 hit like other super light attacks do, so it's automatically bad. And it can only be activated once in the air, making it laughable as a mobility option. It also has high end lag if you decide to stop using it, making you a sitting duck. High risk, low reward.
Heavy attack takes way too long to start and doesn't hit all around you like Fists of Havoc does, and can be dodged by simply walking to the side or jumping. No, the tracking isn't that good. No, the vertical range "buff" they gave it is not good. If you jump, you live, that simple.
Unlike other roaming supers, Maul has basically no mobility options. This would be fine if it was like Golden Gun, which kills from very far to make up for no mobility tricks. This is not the case. Even if you count light attack as a mobility option (it really isn't) the heavy attack is not good enough to make up for it.
Even for PvE, the only viable strat it to spam heavy attack. Light attack serves no purpose in any mode of play, and heavy attack is ONLY good at single target sustain damage, like bosses. By far the worst super in the PvP meta, if not the entire game.
Anyone who thinks otherwise better have really good evidence, or I'm just going to dismiss you as blind/delusional. Sorry if it sounds harh but I'm tired of having an entire subclass of my main class be handed the short end of the stick. I've seen others with the same opinion everywhere, yet somehow update after update goes by without any change from Bungie. Let's change that, shall we?

I dont know about that. I've been killed behind walls by that hammer. Maybe watch some videos on how to improve your skill? doesnt sound like you are that experienced with that super....

The whole Subclass path needs a rework...

Edited by Fenrir: 6/2/2020 5:55:21 PMIf that's what you think, then you obviously have no idea how to use burning maul. Even if they jump, they must eventually come down. Just time the slam right and it gets them. You say the super has no mobility, and that the light attack serves no purpose. This is completely false. If you jump then use the light attack, not only does it function as a midair dodge, you can reposition yourself for a better slam. Also, if you just have a single stack of roaring flames, you can one shot other supers with a direct slam. Please know how the super works before you try criticizing it.

What do you think you’re talking about. You can literally be at max height and still be hit by burning maul. You want to talk about bad supers? Look at nova warp.
-
Alright so you want free kills basically
-
Jump
Lol the same can be said for literally any other roaming super.
-
Not every super has to be good in PvP. Some supers are better suited to other activities, and that's 100% okay.

CrayonConnoisseur777 casts Burning Maul! Me: "Ok"
-
Welcome to the entire Warlock class.
-
Not to mention the fact that it take ten years to actually activate the super

I jump. Oh wait still tracks explodes on me with an insta kill fire tornado. Burning Maul is crazy. You don’t even need any sort of line of sight for it to track, it just tracks anywhere. It literally beats any other melee based super
