So, after pre-production, development and 5 years of Destiny........ NOW you have a "vision" for the game?
Surely logic dictates that the "vision" should have been in place from the beginning?
Smh, each time a vidoc releases it just confirms the view that Bungie have never had a cohesive plan for Destiny
Edit: In response to the Activision shouts.....

The vision is winding up the franchise without going bust.

Even bungie themselves say that Activision did not prohibit them in any way creatively. How come I haven’t seen this article earlier? I see so many bungie fanboys keep repeating the same nonsense nonstop, which doesn’t even make sense, about how Activision was the real reason the game was garbage. No, you fúcking morons, it was all bungie’s fault. You will see in the coming months, the same thing will happen that has been happening ever since Acvtivision left and Even before that, bungie will just do worse and worse and worse. They will try to scam us even more than before, they will keep cutting corners even more than when Activision was around, they will nickel and dime us as much as possible, because that is the type of company you’re dealing with. You’re not dealing with honest game developers, you’re just dealing with lazy, incompetent scam artists. They do not deserve any benefit of the doubt. Don’t take my word for it, see what they do & look at their actions, not their words and you’ll see for yourself how stupid you’d have to be to defend these egregious money hungry scumbags.

Edited by Astellan: 9/18/2019 10:42:02 PMJust a little note. The tracker reports that 429k PvE and 420.6k PvP were playing yesterday. These numbers are lower than the post launch exodus. It is not wild to say that this game is in terrible straights because as we all know, those numbers are actually lower...

That was the worst time in Destiny history and they had to major course correct. Things are nowhere near as dire as they were at that time.
-
Wrong, during curse of Osirus the combined player population never dipped below 800k. The most dire moment was before the release of CoO. D2's overall population was 8 million. It would grow to 14 million before Forsaken, so during Warmind, Destiny had a net add of 6 million gamers. Forsaken is the real canary in the Coal mine because since then there has been zero additions. It's only been retention of the active playerbase. Curse of Osirus actually had a small bump because Eater of Worlds was released. Nothing beats the post launch crash and the very real decline of active players. The only thing that kept the post launch from being a total flop was the staggered release of the game. By the time PC was launched Console players were already cursing Bungies name for lack of content.

Edited by TheShadow-cali: 9/18/2019 11:20:33 PMJust a little note. DT count is way off by 400K https://guardian.gg/2 I hate how DT puts out a false count knowing they count... Gambit as PvP D1 Count recoveries Alt accounts that people have and the multiple accounts cheaters have, and I wonder what else DT counts as a login to make up that false count.
-
Just checked 354,732 to be exact out of 15,720,238. Ouch.
-
Edited by Astellan: 9/20/2019 4:21:28 AMSo the total PvPers yester was only upper 200k. I didnt see what the Pvers were at.
-
If you want more accurate numbers, use Guardian.GG2. What I'm saying is, DT is literally putting out a false count.
-
I think the numbers will get a boost with Shadowkeep (as usual with expansions) but I suspect the real population won't be obvious until January time lol. Then we will know how successful this new "vision" is lol
-
I dont think there will be a boost. Too few players bought Forsaken. Only 60% of the active player base bought Forsaken. They have to sell 100% of Forsakens buyers and then hope steam can cover up the slack.. Not going to happen.
-
Lol, true. I just meant a boost on today's population. I don't expect a huge spike in numbers lol
-
Couldn't agree more. The thing that is really baffling is that Bungie must have had a direction for destiny when they first approached Activision about the game. Yet apparently now 5 years later, they do??? Why would a publisher agree to publish a game with no direction!?! Just seems like a bunch of PR nonsense to try blame Activision for anything that the fans have been unhappy about until now.
-
Its the dev team. The Dev team of this game have no idea what they want the game to be. Think about it. In D1 they had Joe Statens work to cut up and sell to the gamers, acting like they were creating new content when in fact they were just tweaking content that was supposed to be in the game since launch. Luke and his team are literally throwing anything they can at the wall to see if it sticks. This is why people like Datto have influence. The devs have no vision so they are guaging streamers and their fans for a direction that will make quiet the fanbase. Its failing because the Dev team has no idea what the player experience is. Destiny 3 will be more of the same. Now that is a game I wouldnt touch with a ten foot pole. Oh and I disliked much of forsaken but since Shadowkeep is obviously garbage, I dont mind being locked to forsaken and a New Light. Who cares about progression when the game has pay to progress and artifscts that reset after every season.
-
They do have a vision, they just change it constantly because y'all complain all of the time.
-
They've been in an identity crisis ever since Joe Staten left. Redefining what something is too many times has killed some of the best products and ideas out there. Yes, D1Y1 had it's QoL issues. But that was, for me, the closest it ever got to being something great. We went through the great nerfing, and some other good pieces shined through. But by the time D1Y3 was coming to the end, I thought they had enough sense to completely separate PvP and PvE. Nope, and now weapons and progression make almost no sense for how the game was originally built. They've built the entire D2 idea on the wrong base idea and they've been throwing band-aid ideas out to try to help it make sense ever since.

This is bungie’s vision not activision’s
This is bungie’s vision not activision’s
It was always Bungie's. Give it a rest and stop being an apologist for a company that has taken 9ish years to find a direction for their own creation

Edited by Demon_XXVII: 9/19/2019 12:33:39 PM
a company that has taken 9ish years to find a direction for their own creation
9ish years? Destiny has only been out for 5 years (in two releases) Before D1 released, Destiny had a vision .....but then the BungieManagement & Activision got greedy, cut up his work and forced him out the door! (Oh and Destiny 1 was in stages (conception/development) of for around 7-8 years before it was released in 2014
-
9ish was a deliberately low-ball estimate of pre-production and release added together. Which you actually acknowledge in your own response ☺
-
But your ‘9ish’ comment doesn’t work Because upto 2014, they had a vision Then Activision popped along, wowed the Bungie management with 💰💰💰💰, and that Destiny visionary was fired, content was torn apart, carved up and stuck back together as monetary dlc So let’s blame that partnership from 2014 onwards!
-
Just to clarify, ATVI didn’t just pop up in 2014. That contract was entered into agreement by the two parties in 2010, April 16th to be exact. https://destiny.fandom.com/wiki/Bungie-Activision_Contract “9’ish years” is pretty darn spot on accurate.

Bungie have had ALL THAT TIME and only NOW think that they have found a vision. So yes, 9 does work
