I have created my loadout for OAFL. Here's a good example of what I'm looking for in a loadout (aside from the charges of your Unique Ability - that will be determined by me). If you want to go back and search for your loadout, go to the OAFL tag and scroll down because I'm too lazy to link it here.
Novice Ronin, the White Tiger
I included my title and Outer Animal for the DM's ease of access.
Weapons
- 2 quick-action hand crossbows with 10 bolts in total
- 2 katanas
Take note: I listed every offensive weapon I have in my arsenal, which happens to just consist of some hand crossbows and some katanas. I'm making it clear here that my katanas are my primary weapon, as I only have 10 bolts in total. If I were to use the hand crossbows primarily, I wouldn't be able to have 2 katanas, but I would have 20 bolts in total. This category will include weapons, but magic gets a little trickier. Magic focused fighters, like Saitonia or Lee The Sheriff, have the line between their Unique Ability and their weaponry blurred a little bit. Theoretically, they should only have a list of "spells", or magical abilities, that are purely offensive in the weaponry category that serves as their main functions of attacking. This serves basically as a moveset - they can't use spells outside of their listed knowledge. Their Unique Ability is some other offensive ability that goes beyond the basics of their weaponry.
Defenses
- Light leather armor that helps movement, hid underneath a flowing white fur cloak
- Magic wards placed on leather armor that help defend against magical attacks as well as physical ones
Here, I listed the defenses of my fighter. This category often contains passive effects placed on armor, like enchantments, that does not take up a Unique Ability. In the determination of the difference between a Unique Ability and a defense, just read the above spoiler except replace every instance of "attacking" or "weaponry" with "defending" or "defenses".
Unique Ability
Lightning Control - Can summon and control lightning and electricity for a multitude of shocking effects, including stunning, zapping, or electrifying. Has 5 charges per battle (Smaller ability that isn’t quite an ultimate at all times means more uses, similar to a Jedi’s Force abilities).
I have a bit of an odd Unique Ability. There's only one other fighter I know of off the top of my head that has a similar one - Texas Jedi. Both of our abilities are versatile, and can inflict a high-damaging attack, but it can also provide extra effects on a regular attack, buff defense, or do some other utility thing. However, 99% of OAFL fighters have some sort of Ultimate ability or Passive ability. For example, WiErDScIeNcE11 applies poison on every attack as his Passive ability, and Toaster can ignore death only once per battle using his Ultimate ability. In general, Ultimate abilities get the least amount of uses per battle, but will deal the most damage out of any ability, Versatile abilities will get the most amount of uses per battle, but will deal varying damage, and Passive abilities have infinite uses per battle, but will deal the least amount of damage.
Attributes
Primary: Tactics
Secondary: Speed
I hope this is clear. I've chosen my attributes out of the 4 options, and I've specified which is primary and which is secondary.
Entrance/Appearance
Appearance:
I have a long, white fur cloak that reaches down to my calves, but not quite to my ankles. The cowl is drawn in dark arenas and pulled back in light arenas. Underneath my armor is the smooth leather armor that makes no noise as I move around. My face is darker, from my years in the salt mines, but my eyes sparkle with an electric blue, which contrasts with my jet black mess of hair.
I went into detail describing my character and had a little bit of fun here. This doesn't affect fights at all - just how badass you look while fighting, because that's what's really important. You can go into as much detail as you want when describing your fighter's appearance.
Theme song: Undefeated by Skillet
I selected a theme song that plays on my entrance. For some reason, a lot of people forget this part, so this is why I'm pointing this out.
Entrance:
I walk in and perform a Hold Fist Salute and bow, lightning sparking in my hands and crackling all over my armor as I bow.
I specified an entrance "animation" that I do upon entering the arena. Keep in mind that there are arenas where you may not be able to see your opponent upon arriving at the arena, so if you want, you can create two Entrances, one that you do if you can see them, and one that you do if you can't see them. Your theme song plays while you are performing this entrance.
Alright, I suppose that's it. And to those of you who have already challenged me: yes. Me posting this means that I'm ready to duel and our fight will arrive when it arrives - there's still an entire Pending Fights list to sift through first. Any questions that I can clear up, fighters?
