Don't let this event fool you. We STILL need core removed or a lot of them to drop.
- Flash point
- Heroic public events
- Night fall final loot chest
- Iron banner bounties
- Etc
Give us a reason to want to do these things because If season 7 hits and the masterwork core economy and powerful engrams are the same you can bet your ass players will legitimately quit the game....for real this time. 3-4 seasons of bad economy and straight up ignoring players cries.
You are not struggling to find a better solution bungie, you are just choosing the worse thing to stick to your guns on. And I promise you, players saying the economy is fine doesn't have the game's best interest at heart. Perfect progression system was during age of triumph. It's can't possibly be hard to make the system good again. Hell, forsaken had a good system.....until you beat the campaign and the system went to shit.
Not only that, infusion cost way too much....of everything. Including glimner.
Edit: and I'm not talking one core per bounty or game type bs either. Ffs the forest event gives you 1 a day. None of this is satisfying and is insulting to me. Infusion will never be meaningful this way, nor should it.
Every season I wear random stuff to bump my light up just two eventually where the stuff I was wearing before the cap was raised because it's has the mods and stats like and worked for. Your current system sucks.

What’s wrong with the powerful engram economy, other than at this point there are way to many powerful drops available?

That does suck. I’ve been there many times, too. However there are at least 25 powerful engram opportunities at reset each week, with daily activities refreshing another 5 on top of that over the week (if you have everything unlocked). You have some set ones like Ada’s weapons that you can complete if you need to power up a specific spot in your gear. The weekly from her is guaranteed high armor. Plus now you can specifically get a powerful helmet from Drifter. That’s not even counting Prime Engrams which you will get as you complete the other activities or the 11 or 12? powerful drops you can get in raids. I just feel like there are a lot of opportunities to get powerful drops. Some are fast, some take longer, and some are probably out of reach for some people. It seems to me like you can do only the things you like and level slowly or go out and do some stuff you might not like so much, but get rewarded by leveling more quickly. That’s how most of the games I’ve ever played work. It sucks when you get a few powerful drops in a row all of the same item type, but that’s the nature of rng.

There are a lot of powerful drop opportunities. But RNG. Even if I get something in the “boots” category that I need to level, what good does that do me if it buffs swords and snipers and I never touch those? The opposite example... from Thursday night to Saturday night, every single gear powerful drop I got, dropped with an SMG perk. I happen to be on an SMG kick ATM so I wasn’t complaining. BUT I literally got not a single piece of armor that had another non-power weapon perk. That’s not OK. And I’m not complaining about RNG per se. Just illustrating that those who say to use hodgepodge perks as an end around to infusing useful gear are out of touch.
