So let me explain. I made a post about the flaws and failures of the current political system in America, and how the founding ideals of the legitimacy of the government were in conflict with the actual structure of the government that was set up. I’d say a rather large chunk of the comments read the hook of the post, the title, and completely ignored the body all together. They assumed I was asking about what type of political system the United Stated had, and not asking about the merits and legitimacy of the government, and just smugly responded to a hook and not the thesis.
Feel free to read the thread if you haven’t for yourself, and check out all the comments I’m referring to, but I’m doing a little test now. I want to know how many people will completely ignore the body of this thread and respond purely to the hook of it. Probably reply with something like: “uhhh so dumb and misinformed, I learned in preschool that Canada is a country.”

Edited by Darth Turtle: 10/14/2018 12:59:31 PMCanada accepts the queen as head of state due to being part of the commonwealth. However that doesn’t effect their sovereignty as the queen hold little power over them.
Sovereignty is the power of a state to do everything necessary to govern itself, such as making, executing, and applying laws; imposing and collecting taxes; making war and peace; and forming treaties or engaging in commerce with foreign nations.
Even with the queen being head of state, Canada still has the ability to do all these things without her. Therefore they are a sovereign country recognized by every other country on this planet.
I did read the post my guy. You’re points were valid so addressed the problem with the hook. It’s a debate strat.
