Hi. The only time I feel like ammo may actually be an issue would be during the raid. However, I've spent quite a few hours in this raid, and indeed have completed it. At no point during my runs did I feel that ammo was an issue. This new system of two primaries counters the problem we had in D1. During D1, ammo was more common, and we only had 1 primary, which meant only a few shots of special and a few shots of heavy. However, now that we have two primaries, this is hardly an issue. At no point in the raid should you be in a state of having no ammo. However, I wouldn't oppose an increase in the drop rate of kinetic/energy ammo, as it does run low sometimes and force me to use one of the other.
At the pools, you need heavy to kill the bathers, right? Well, the bathers have a very high chance at dropping heavy ammo. You also have that extra ally with you, so worse case scenario, they can kill it for you. Stepping off your pad for a few seconds isn't going to be a wipe, unless you aren't doing the fight correctly.
At the dogs, you just need to spam them. The enemies leading up to the mechanics should drop enough ammo to fill your guns up, so you'll be going into the fight with at least close to full ammo. Since you have 4 attempts to kill your dog, loading all your heavy into it the first run should do enough damage for your kinetic/energy to finish it off the next 2-3 runs. Even they aren't enough, you have your grenade/melee/super, as well as allies to help once they kill theirs.
At the gauntlet... I don't even feel I need to mention this actually. Plenty of enemies and barely any need to fight. Shooting the arrows takes barely any ammo.
The last boss is where I suppose people have the most trouble. Burning those incendiors (whatever they're called) and the two other enemies that spawn, does take a good amount of ammo. However, all the ads you kill between phases will refill your ammo after DPSing the boss. You'll have more than enough heavy if your team manages to kill all 4 Psions before being teleported to the 'void.' The only time I ever actually ran out of ammo during this raid was during the DPS phase on the boss. However, once you're done you can just melee a dog or two and get ammo back. It really isn't an issue.
Ammo synthesis are not necessary. If anything, they can buff the ammo drop rate by a small amount. If you're consistently running out of ammo, then I'm sorry to say, but you're doing something wrong. In simplest terms... it's user error.

So in the final encounter you stayed in the throne room where you get drops from slain enemies, I'm assuming? Now try the other option with no drops at all, a few psions and the dmg multiplier skulls. You're often left with little to none for callus dps, having to waste time punching dogs in the hopes of a drop.

Lmao man third plate I gotta hop off and run around frantic looking for ammo, shooting those skulls eats up both your primary and secondary quick I know your pain. 71 skulls and no ammo doesn't really add me helping in on a damage phase.

No one on my inside team ever had issues with ammo, only the occasional glitch where psions would spawn already doing their air bump.
-
Actually, bungie made it so every single yellow bar enemy drops power ammo when killed.
-
Sometimes it just doesn't drop, I've knifed dogs and they drop nothing some times I think it's pure rng/luck especially with the yellow and orange bar enemies.

There's a small percent of the time they don't drop, but its pretty minimal. In the final encounter you can kill all 4 bubble guys for easy free heavy before anyone gets teleported.
