I think it has more to do with the fact that people who fit into this tend to be the day 1 players who have played all 3 years.
The opinion of a 2nd or 3rd year player is going to be different from a day 1 player, I think that's all he's trying to point out.

That would be even worse since year 1 players did nothing but complain about the cluster-blam!- it was. Yet still played for 3 years. That actually makes their opinion seem less valid now. but if that was what ye meant he wouldn't have labelled them "bungie defenders."
