Lol talk about fighting a battle that isn't yours. Are you a streamer, or a YouTuber? Yet here you are fighting that battle, and getting destroyed. You miss the point. People who fight generalizations, as if everyone actually thinks that EVERY single person fits the description, and as if the description does not completely accurately depict a majority of the subject group, are intellectually dishonest. When you spread that nonsense, it's actually a societal detriment and, as a part of society, it is my battle.

I mentioned that OP was making a large generalization because what he said was extremely disrespectful toward the Youtubers that genuinely work hard at what they do. I see nothing wrong with pointing out generalizations when I find that they present an issue. Obviously we shouldn't be pointing out [b]every[/b] time someone makes an absolute statement that isn't necessarily true, but when it is blatantly offensive to a large group of people, something needs to be said. I understand that OP was trying to make a joke, but unless he makes a disclaimer that he is only talking about certain Youtubers, he is directly insulting not only quality content creators, but he is also insulting those that support them as well. Since I am someone who watches YouTube content regularly, this is very much a battle of my own. Also your theory that having an argument against generalizations is "intellectually dishonest" and that such people are a "societal detriment" is entirely based on your opinion.

Nope, most generalizations are statistically provable. Like this one regarding you tubers. One can watch 100 youtubers, track the percentage that this fits absolutely, and when it is upwards of 90%, you can mathematically verify the fact that this generalization rightfully represents the group. You could have appreciated the illustration, laughed, and even commiserated with the community over how annoying it is t watch a video like that. Instead, you chose getting upset. Is it tiring trying so hard to be offended all the time?

There are so many quality content creators out there that it's a huge insult to generalise them like this. If I'm not mistaken, this is a logical fallacy and should not be excused conveniently for the purpose of being a joke. I may have seen the joke ad humorous had OP included a disclaimer, but I'm only interpreting what is in front of my eyes. For all I know, OP could legitimately think that all Youtubers are like this since he has not pointed it out himself. Though we can probably both agree that's unlikely, it doesn't change the fact that he is being disrespectful to many quality Youtubers as well as the people that support them. I'm done with this argument as I've wasted enough time. Agree to disagree and move on.

I did, and from what I've gathered you're mixing those quality youtubers (like byf) with the big amount of youtubers OP seems to be describing. Saying that a person is salty because their favorite channels fit the description of those low quality channels is just plainly assuming that this person only watches garbage channels, which is probably not the case. If this person's favorite channel is a high quality channel, then it's understandable that they'd speak up for the good channels, which OP puts on the same level as these low quality channels. Also, please try to stay friendly in the conversations here, negativity won't make your point stronger. This isn't meant to be directed at you, but rather to every one scrolling past this place. I used Byf as an example. I could have used any high quality youtuber there, I just went with Byf because he (in my opinion) is a fantastic example of high quality destiny youtuber.

Nope, not a single one of the ones I regularly watch is even close to this description. I understand there are Youtubers that are like the one OP described, but you can't generalise all of them like that. It's no different than saying every McDonald's worker is a failure that can't get themselves a career.

You honestly shouldn't be prying into someone else's argument unless you actually plan on defending yourself properly. And regardless of whether or not my analogy was a bit of a stretch, it gets my point across that not every YouTuber is as generic as OP described. If you don't appreciate what they do, at least have some respect for what they do for a living.

Well I was never trying to argue in the first place, just trying to make you see it wasn't as serious as you're making it. If you do wanna get serious however you're being more immature than the OP. You're making a scene out of a joke post because your feelings were hurt for who knows what reason defending people you don't know that probably don't even know you exist.
