If that's true, abomination heist is grooming them for Crota with the sword. One can hope.

When is there a sword in Abomination Heist?

Some major knights come out at intervals. I think two total. I think they're named "Blade of the Pit" or something. On death they drop the sword, which works exactly as it always has but with the green spark to let you know when time is running out, like the blades of crota in patrols back in TDB.
