Free content that already existed, they took away, and are now giving back becuase the game is becoming stale.
Literally every update (both "free" and paid) has been motivated by micro-transactions, not by wanting to please their fanbase.

If your that upset about it, then maybe this game is not a right fit for you. There are many many other games out there, no need to let yourself get so upset over one. If you don't agree with how they are approaching micro transactions/DLC/Free updates, then stop playing, take a break until D2 to see if things will change.
