Smallbore, high caliber rounds and counterbalance, basically the roll I got lol
I have braced frame too, but the extra burst and accuracy through range are more important, it's already stable enough....

range stat doesnt matter for this gun in pvp, it can map without losing TTK potential up to 50+ yards. very few scenarios you wind up shooting that far in pvp. id suggest checking out coolguy's youtube vid where he explains that about the grasp archetype pulse rifles.
-
Mine has braced frame and smallbore, smallbore hits harder at all ranges and is more accurate, don't need a video, I have both perks to test on one gun.
-
smallbore doesnt make you hit harder, it lets you extend your range before damage falloff would take effect. i do not argue that i argue that the average range you will engage in the crucible will not often exceed the range falloff point of the clever dragons base range. if you are, your playstyle would better suit a scout honestly. its VERY easy to stay within that engagement range. hell on that windows court map i could still map people for full headshot damage from across it with my roll (no range perks)
-
I don't need braced frame, I prefer the range for the extra accuracy, virtually zero damage drop off, and the extra bursts in an already small magazine... I tried both, I have both lol
-
you dont get extra accuracy with the range stat you realize? it simply extends your range before falloff damage occurs. i also get virtually zero damage dropoff without any range perks. granted the 2 extra pulls of the trigger is nice, tho i like to run it with pulse loader gloves/ophidians aspects so i dont really sweat that.
-
You do, range and accuracy are tied together completely...
-
in a way yes. but pulse rifles work a bit differently. there stickyness doesnt really drop much if at all as there damage slowly drops off from ranged falloff. if we were talking more like autos with gradual and steady damage falloff and quickly lossed AA or handcannons with stark sudden dropoff and going from 100% AA to 0%AA effect once there maximum range is exceeded you would be correct. pulse rifles dont really work like either of those tho. im not arguing your roll is bad, hell perks in general only give you an edge, your able to win without them completely (tho some weapons really do suck). im just talking numbers with you in the end. how things work, not how they feel to an individual. when i first started playing the game i was convinced the apple of discord was godly, even tho it in truth sucked.
-
Four burst pulse rifles suck big time lol Smallbore is better than braced frame if you have counterbalance. If you don't have counterbalance, braced frame is great I guess... Range has a direct impact on accuracy, and also the pulse bullet grouping too...
-
counterbalance again is only great on med rof pulses and slow rof pulses as well as autos. its situational on hawksaw archetype depending on other perks and not needed on grasp archetypes. especially with good stability perks. yes range does have a impact on accuracy, my point is that the maps in the crucible do not have long enough range engagements for that to matter in pvp.
-
I've tested without it, it's much better, much much better. You don't "need" any perk, but there's not much better. I have the gun, I've used it and tested it, I know what works best and what I prefer lol Without counterbalance, the gun kicks in up to the left or right a little, and it varies quite a lot....
-
then you and i have different pulse rifles called clever dragon because mine kicks slightly to the left consistantly, and to such a small degree that even across the map vs a strafing opponent i can land all my shots with the majority being precision damage, due to its high AA. now what you prefer is a different argument entirely, im just arguing mechanics, not preference.
-
It's kicks left and right, I tested it, didn't like the recoil pattern, so I'm glad I got counterbalance..... My old malok had braced frame and rangefinder, the recoil was consistent and easy, it's gone now, infused into my dragon.... I don't need braced frame, my accuracy on all maps, even bannerfall is great and I can land three bursts successfully. Why should I spec up for braced frame when I can easily control the recoil with smallbore and counterbalance, while having extra bursts in the mag, more accuracy, and less damage fall off lol
-
i tested it as well, at most i would sometimes get a vertical kick instead of a slight and to the left. thats with leaving my thumbs off the control sticks. more accuracy is a semi fallacy since the engagements on the maps (including bannerfall) evne without range stat are not so great as to cause a loss of accuracy. your talking vacuum, im talking actual application (combined arms yours would do better at range obvious due to the maps immense size). and again, im just talking performance, not preference, if you can handle that extra kick thats great! i can handle the slightly to the left kick just fine myself. your only factual pro your listing is a bigger magazine. as everything else wouldnt happen in your average crucible scenario (damage falloff, accuracy) so again, this isnt about preference, just talking mechanics.

Disagree, if I notice the difference, it matters, no matter what you may think lol
-
confirmation bias. sadly it doesnt influence actual math. but on a philosophical/subconcious level you are correct.

Edited by Mickey Padge: 10/9/2016 10:06:23 AMEr, no but my opinion, based on my use of the weapon lol Everything is subjective, bungie confirmed the range/accuracy stat being tied together, and that more range = tighter bullet spread Are you saying the developer team are wrong
-
im saying its not as cut and dry as your making it out to be. in a vacuum yes that is how it works, but each weapon as well as archetype has different measures of impact of said stats (thus why some weapons favor certain stats more then others). Pulse rifles, specifically the very fast ROF archetype, see very very minimal negative impact from a lack of range stat, to the point that in actual play, in bungies designed maps, there are very few if any situations where you would want to engage or even be able to engage at such a range as to make this an issue for this archetype of pulse rifle. (wich strangely has a longer effective range then a low ROF pulse archetype despite that low ROF pulse having a much larger range stat bar...go figure)

Edited by Mickey Padge: 10/9/2016 10:14:59 AMThere are large range maps, there is damage drop off, if I can play without worrying about that, with more bursts and a tighter more accurate bullet spread I will.... Especially if the other option is making stability, which is already easy to manage, slightly better lol
-
yes there are, outside of combined arms, ive yet to find a spot on any map where i receive damage drop off with a no range perk dragon. also, i repeat, its not a tighter more accurate bullet spread. what you perceive vs the majority does is different. but as you say you "perceive" it to be better so to you it is. your ignoring actual ingame numbers with mechanics and just sticking your fingers in your ear and stating it works better for you...wich is fine i guess. i dont know why im still trying to inform you. its not convince, its not debate, just trying to matter of fact inform you. have a nice night sir/madam.

It is a tighter burst bullet spread on weapons, read bungies posts lol

I'm watching that plane fly over your head

I understand you, I just don't agree with you lol
